I am currently setting up an Aeroworks 50cc Extra 260. I am using a DLE55 in this plane. My question is how to setup the choke for either manual or servo operation. The choke lever is almost directly inline on the same side of the engine with the throttle lever.
Looking for a goodway to easily operate the choke. If you have pictures of your choke setup on a DLE 55, please help me out. (Pictures if possible)
Thanks!

Here is what I did and it works great. Just remember which direction is "choke on" before you put the cowl on. I have screwed that up at the field

I did mine basically the same way. You can angle the "guide" to make it accessible from the cowl opening, or run it back with a bellcrank to the side of the fuse. Both of my dle's are "push on" "pull off".

Thanks guys!
I take it the process for cold starts would be to close the carbuetor to start and run, and then shut down and open choke and restart.
Seems it may be a bit complicated to run a servo setup with the DLE 55 setup.

fwiw, the reactor1.60 manual shows the choke push rod setup for 50cc, starting on pg. 18...

np, i prefer to have manual choke, i mean, i dont see why put somethine that can fail also on the airplane. Close for first start of the day, and then opened when i hear fire up. Then i know i will not need it the rest of the day.</p>

I found this video at Troy Built Models for a mod, to change the throttle lever to the opposite side of the carb from the choke lever.
I performed the mod already and it's easy, works great, and allows the use of a servo.
Here's the link. http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/ZDZCPA004.html

Is that the stock muffler. Did you put a wire coil inside or just tap the muffler for your smoke setup?
Thanks,

I do like simplicity in aircraft set-ups, but prefer to have servo actuated chokes. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages, IMHO. No matter how small the gasser, having to get your hands in the path of a prop, even when stationary, is dumb. I have witnessed 2 incidents where when the ignition was turned on the engine kicked over.
Another advantage is that I can crack the carb open and control the opening while warming up an engine. I also have the choke included in my failsafe and engine kill setups.
To each their own as it is your aircraft and you get to choose how you set it up.
Below some pics on how I did a DLE-55 in a Pitts M-12.

Very nice setup Blik'.
I did basically the same setup in my GP Ultimate but used goldnrods.
Have yet to fly it but everything is smooth as silk right now.
Can't wait to get it up.

guys i would like to take this a bit further...
i have a JR 9303 setup as follows:
1 TH
2 RT ALIE
3 JR Matchbox->2 ELEV
4 Rudd
5-smoke
6 Aux 1 RT FLP
7 Aux2 LT FLP
8 Aux3 LT ALIE
9 Batt / Aux4 OPTO KILL SW or servo choke
if i use a servo controlled choke than i wont need the kill SW - will use the choke to kill the engine
BUT
i want to this through the variable switch, for safety reasons, hence only when the VAR SW will be either 100% or -100% only then the CHOKE will be fully closed or open..!!!
any ideas?
thx
