It is very difficult toexactlytry too determine colors on B&W photos. historians have been trying for years and still found it difficult due to so many factors involved. The best advise is to keep doing as much research as you can on thisparticularunit , especially in it's formation period. That will give you the mostaccurateinfo.
The time period I was goingforis early to mid 1943.
I agree with the comments on the B&Wphotos.
I think it may just come down to getting a feel for what was typicalcommon for the time and location and make best effort to interpret it, sort of along the lines of.......

also you have to be aware that once crews started camouflaging their tanks this was down to individual unit then to individual tank crews so no two tanks in a company were the same, .
