I few questions for Mr. Cain (post # 6)
1. How are you going to assist in the retention and acquisition of flying sites for the clubs in D8.
<<<<<<<<<<<<
In the same manner that I will be working to get AMA (spelled AMA EC) to move toward national recognition of model aviation as a worthwhile recreational hobby and sport.
For sure you have read the work bringing national recognition to RC as presented in the Sep. '03 issue of RCM, pages 8 - 12. National recognition does filter down to local political levels. Have you ever encountered anyone that failed to understand the terms, "Little League", soccer, football, etc., etc.?
In this objective -- flying sites -- whatever is good for AMA on a national level will also be good for District VIII.
>>>>>>>>>>..
2. How are you going to improve on the soon to be former vice-presidents column in Model Aviation.

Make it easier for you to submit your information.
Include my PERSPECTIVES of AMA business for your information and discussion.
>>>>>>>>>>>
I would hope to see you at more of the local areas events. I have visited and participated in Jetero's events , but have yet to see you at many other local clubs events.
<<<<<<<<<<<
Haven't had the need so far. Have been seen at Livingston ARFs, Bomber Field, and Bayport.
OTOH the district will become "Local" and the visiting will be spread out, even more numerous. Already farming out the contests that I usually CD. More to come as needed.

3. What ideas can you provide to help more AMA members become more proactive within the hobby? We all know it's just a few core members like ourselves who dedicate their time and effort to keep a club functioning.
<<<<<<<<<<<
Thank you, but let me assure that I am NOT God.
I do pray however that God grant me the ability to change that which I can and give me wisdom to know the difference between that which I cannot change and that which I can. The first thing I would change if I could would be to get more members to at least vote. I can't do that so my efforts will not be directed there.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
4. Are you going to lead by example? If so, Hopefully you set a better example than some of the petty bickering I have witnessed throughout both forums and newsgroups the last few years that I have been watching.
<<<<<<<<<<<
You will have to answer that question for yourself. I state my main objectives and those are where my main efforts will be directed. As stated above ref. the MA column, you will know what I am doing or trying to do. In addition, inputs will be welcome.

5. What are your priorities for D-8? You have provided a very vague/non-existent explanation on how you are going to accomplish the goals mentioned below.
Thanks for your time.

As the title of this thread states, "1560 characters including spaces." That is all that AMA allows for a potential AMA EC VP to use in one issue of "Model Aviation".Rather a small space for a detailed plan, don't you think?
That is nothing considering the incumbent has a whole page each month to advertise over and over.
Now look at the numbers that use this specific AMA forum as compared to the IMAC and Clubhouse. Doesn't take an I.Q. much over about 80 to figure where the interest is.
Actually whatever good I can do will be aimed mostly at AMA overall. As stated above whatever serves AMA will serve District VIII.
BTW have you read the definition of an AMA VP in the AMA Bylaws? Very interesting as the DVP is not charged with "representing the membership to AMA," as many would believe, but actually more so in the reverse, the AMA to the membership, Article X, Section 5.
While not mentioned herein, I will mention that I am sorely against the looonnngggg, and IMO, ludicrous overly managed "Safety Code" and I will labor to keep new non-essential rules left out and a number removed. You will always be advised of any progress and/or obstacles in that particular course.
Thank you for your interest and the questions. See you at SWAC.
