In a two stroke engine the short stroke has the advantage of MORE port area, so the same port time-area can be achieved with smaller port crank angles, leaving more time for the gasses to excert pressure on the piston. Apart from that, short stroke engines are smaller and lighter for the same displacement. There is no advantage whatsoever in long stroke ratios. Torque is a derivate from cubic inches, and shorter strokes in the same displacement have too many advantages, constructive as well.
