Hi all,
Well, I did it, I went and got myself an arrow tiger. Mainly because my first low wing was the series 1 arrow and I couldn't resist.
The wing is super thick and the overall quality seems to have improved over the first

I just got mine 2 days ago!
It's almost completely together. I just have to balance and do a bit more work before she's ready.
A couple of questions though.....did your arf come complete with the wheel pants?...all i got were the cheap plastic struts.
And HAVE YOU FLOWN IT YET??? IF so...whats it like?
thanks and happy flying

I flew my arrow tiger today!!!
With a head wind she takes off in a very short distance. I really didn't have much flying time this morning. I had her up for one flight and she flew beautifully. beware though the plane comes in fast in landing.
some concerns with the ARF:
1. I originally installed my Enya 45 in the stock engine mount and tightend a bit too much on one bolt, although it didn't seem excessive, and it stripped the hole. So the engine mount is made of butter, not metal! ....SO i had an old engine mount lying around and I proceeded to remove the original one that came with the ARF. GUESS what? the engine mount screws that tighten to the firewall were barely tightened!!! (not to mention that i had to cut out an openenig in order to get in to the tight area in the firewall). Mounting my new engine mount was a biiatch because i had to drill new holes....home depot here i come for that dremel tool (with the right angle attachment)...well it finally went in and I was satisfied.
2. The servo mounting tray is made of soft flexible plastic and although it's ok and I used it....there is some free play. Eventually I'll make my own servo tray.
3. The plastic nose cone supplied is on the cheap side, quality wise.
4. I had to put my receiver battery pack under the tank in order to balance the plane correctly...my pack is big and heavy, so if you use a standard one, you'll need to add more weight up front, (and I also used a metal weight nut on the engine).
5. The covering thats used on the ARF is beautiful, however, I've had it for less than a week and on more than a few surfaces the covering is bubbleing. (I'll try to iron them down).
Other than those few annoyances...the big one being the engine mount...the plane is great and flies really nice. It goes together easily and quickly.
Time will tell wether she'll hold up over some time.
I'm happy with the results and will post some photos later on.....my cameras on lown to a friend.
enjoy.

I have one question for Inter :
Where did you get the wheel pants for your Tiger.
They are not belonging to the kit, but I think they are great on this plane.
please comment.

You rearly ought to check out the latest VMar kits, your comments relating to them are now old hat and very out of date.
Latest Arrow Tiger in Europe is now a see through red scheme the aileron servos are not under a cover but exposed as per every other ARTF now days, only problem I had with the whole build was the incidence pins for the wing joint being out of position, I had this with a Graupner kit so no big deal, the work required is just enough to make you feel involved in the construction sequence and having contributed to the build.
I'v put Ailivators on mine so the elevators also act as ailerons, seemed to good a chance to miss as the twin push rods where already there, pics should explain mods required.

Hi all
I maidend my Arrow Tiger over the week end, what a nice aircraft this is, fully airobatic with no vices at all, I like my aircraft responsive so the ailavators worked rearly well for me, I will increase the elevator movement next, on second thourghts I will set up elevons on the ailerons to give me more responce, will report next time I fly.

As soon as it stops raining I will take a pic of the full aircraft maybe later today.
Thanks for the reply I was getting lonly.

Talking to yourself is the first sign of maddnes, answering yourself is the second.

Pic showing ailivators. And other views, note the OS Max 50H which is a helicoptor engine of 20 years still going strong, could not get the engine back far enough to reduce the gap to the spinner, perhaps a latter mod to extend the nose will too the spinner is in order, trouble is it fly's so well I'm loth to change anything at the moment.

My Feedback: (24)
BE: That's a darn fine looking aircraft! I do like the see through covering on the panels. I am stunned to see the ailvators. Man, that thing must twist like a croc when you wiggle the sticks!
As for the gap, I bet you could form a spacer from balsa, sand to shape, paint and glue it on the nose and no one would know the diff!
Cheers!

All four pics are of the same plane, the model does not come with wheel pants, flying off grass they are not an option anyway, they get full of sheep sh** and lock up the wheels, if you fly off pave then they would certainly enhance an already good looking ship.
As to making up the gap at the nose, a balsa spacer may be the way to go, but I will probably use some lightply to give it a bit more strength.
The Ailivators are very effective at slow speed they increase the manouverability out of proportion to normal, at high speed you can get the same effect by increasing the aileron movement only, but rolls are more axial, its the slow speed manouvres that butter my turnips, simple mod see earlier pics in this thread.

Hi all
Stuffed mine this week end too slow and low, not much damage more to my pride, repaired in just a few hrs, new mid bulkhead and tank floor, now removable, I'v also put 3 deg of down thrust in as the climb was too good on full power, awkward due to the funny angle of the mount but I managed with a tapered piece of 3mm ply cut to profile with tank cutters and sanded to a wedge.

Flew it again this week end, what a difference the downthrust made, much easier to knife edge, straighter loops and hammerheads and on tickover it looses height at a much more controllerble rate, not so hot on the approuch, only thing to modify now is the butter soft legs which bend on landing and have to be rebent forward, will try real piano wire.

Hi all
Not much activity here, is anyone else flying this ship or have you all been indoctrinated by the VMar anti brigade, who in my opinion have not seen a recent VMar aircraft, unless of course in GB we get a different kit from the America's, but I don't see this.
Any comments anyone?

Hi all,
You are not alone, BaldEagel !!!
I have a yellow Arrow Tiger with an OS46FX. It is my second plane after my trainer, the Discovery from... Vmar !
I am very satisfied with the Discovery... That's why, I continue with the Arrow tiger. This plane will fly in the next weeks...

Nice to hear from you, have you flown the Tiger yet? what did you think if you have, I would be very interested in a report from you as it is only your second craft, I have thought that the easy handling of the Tiger make it suitable for a low wing trainer and you are just the person for the job.
I note that your spinner is not flush like mine, do you think VMar made the fuss short on purpose to frustrate us all?

Hi all
Stuffed mine again, fus is a write off, motor not much better, on a slow low pass I opened the throttle and tourqued rolled into the deck, thats the problem of being a speed freak and putting to big a motor in it, I will buy another I liked it that much, at the moment though I have a YAK to build and my PC9 retratcts to finish.

How good is the arrow tiger, Does it fly ok or good or great??
I was thinking of ordering one but ive heard so many bad things about vmar on this site that
i have held off...
There planes look good on their web site, i got to see their f-4 phamtom fly at our air field the other day
and it flew great, and it is a great looking plane, the guy that owned it said he had no problems with it at all..
