RE: Cue Air Pilot Bear
Ok, I've got my asbestos suit on and I'll wade in and see what happens. I'm only a new comer to the r/c hobby (less than one year) and probably less time in the video area. I've never posted to this forum before (I'm a lurker), but I have viewed alot of aerial videos and this one is incredible. One of the things that I noticed was not only the high definition but the lack of shake from the airplane that I see in so many of the other videos. Is there a shake reduction part of this camera that allows this, or is it done in a post production software program, or does this guy just have superior piloting skills?
Thanks for any thoughts and shared knowledge.

It is also using little or no compression. Most uploaded clips are compressed considerably to help download quickly.
From what I can gather on the cue-air web site, (my japanese is rough) it is a commercial company that does aerial video for commercials, movies, etc.
The clip is still neat!

RE: Cue Air Pilot Bear
Is anyone else curious as to the massive shadows that play onto the nose of the aircraft as it is doing the loops? Somehow they have to have a camera mounted out in front of the plane to get that angle. On that size of plane it would have to be a fairly spindly affair for weight reasons. It looks to me like there is some kind of structure behind the camera out in front of the nose that is casting a big shadow as the loop is executed. I am baffled by the angle as it does not seem that any part of the aircraft would be in a position to cast those shadows? I have watched the sun angle carefully and tried to understand what is casting what shadow and have yet to figure it out?

RE: Cue Air Pilot Bear
What is the diference between the Challenger II from AMD (US$114) and the Challenger from KMP (US$ 289)
The links are.
AMD: http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...76d493e8b4e8c1
KMP: http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?c...d34b37dda036b2
In relation with the extra weight the specification of Cue Air Picture is similar. The plane (a Maxair Drifter is 2400grs)

Yes, but is only 10". And the price diference is very significant.

Critian 10'' on any plane it's a lot more wing area,,both planes will fly with the same size engines,,,,I have some experiecne with most airplanes I have flow quiet a few and I can tell you by just looking at the specs that the AMD challenger will be a flying brick and will only get worst if you add a Video camera to it.
The KMP will be a Piper cub kind of flying it should float pretty good,,I know the difference on $$$$ but you will only get what you pay for,,if I were to buy one I would buy the KMP!!!

RE: Cue Air Pilot Bear
si hablo!!!
what do you mean by raise 18oz extra??? wil that be the extra weight on the airplane you are trying to carry???
If so 18oz it's over 1lb and it's a lot of weight for pretty much any plane but if you got the KMP challenger it should do ok with it since it has a much bigger wing area and span.
I have flown a big Bee wich it's like a big glow powered Slow Stick it has lot's of lift and wing area and I installed a Sony TRV-38 on it wich weights 1 1/2lb that's pretty darn heavy and it did very well but of course it's a different plane and it would be the perfect Aerial video Plataform...
here's the vide I made a while back!!!

RE: Cue Air Pilot Bear
Gracias
Cristian

RE: Cue Air Pilot Bear
You can easily flip the image in editing software to correct for that. However the plane would then appear to be traveling in the opposite direction in relation to the other camera's POV.
