RE: onboard cameras
I hear the new Flycam is pretty good! I've been using the cobracam version of the original FlycamOne and it was OK, but only QVGA at 20 FPS and the color balance was always hit and miss.
Up here in Canook land, I bought a Jazz Elite on sale for $160. Don't know if you can buy them in the states. Uses SD cards and it will take HD 1280x720 30 FPS progressive as well as DV resolution, VGA, and QVGA. About 130 grams, and the size of an American pack of smokes. Very basic, fixed focus with electronic zoom, and the menu is kind of clunky, but I haven't seen anything this inexpensive that will do HD.
I used it this weekend at a Kite Festival and will be posting some clips in a 3 or 4 days on my channel at metacafe: [link=http://www.metacafe.com/f/channels/LiveFromMooseJaw/]http://www.metacafe.com/f/channels/LiveFromMooseJaw/[/link]
