Has anyone investigated the effects if fairing in the servos mounted on the wings of ARF's such as the GP Christen eagle? These things sticking out from the serface seem as if they would seriously affect wing lift and aileron effectiveness.

Technically they do but when you have that big an engine and so much wing area who cares. It's just not a big deal. Also a fairing will still upset the lift in that area of the wing. It's just that the fairing will create less drag than a lumpy servo. But here again for this type of flying, where they WANT some drag in the dives to limit speed, a little drag is actually a good thing.
Now on gliders it's a different issue because the only "fuel" they have is their altitude from launch. Any drag that is not part of lifting is like having a leak in the fuel tank. And any lumps on the wing create little fans of lost lift behind them. This is why you see glider models going to great lengths to fair in the servos while the aerobatic folks just stuff them in any old place.

Fairing in would help the 'plane look better. I have a single servo off of the center of the wing in a huge blister on the top surface on one side. I have not noticed any difference between the wing with the blister and one with a any surface disruptions.
