Default Lateral balance

I just changed engines on a little bi plane and put a 4 stroke on it, and mounted it sideways. It looks like I will have to put 1 oz of weight on one of the wings to balance it laterally. Is there any way I can temporarily stick it on the exterior of the wing to see how it flys, before cutting the covering and installing it inside? It balances pretty good with the weight right next to the outer wing support and I was thinking about just taping it to the support temporarily. That position will essentially put it on the top of the lower wing, and I don't know if it will affect the air flow....or, what effect it would have if I taped it to the bottom of the bottom wing.....

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated....

I have stuck weights right on a wingtip without having any adverse effects.

I would say go ahead and stick it on and see how it flies. If you like it, bury it permanently

Fly it - then add any weight - typically fiddling with side to side tip weights causes more problem than it cures.
Frankly -I never use tip weights . Any tendency to always drop a wing is found to be some other type of problem - usually unequal elevator effectiveness or some rudder offset etc..

Try Golf club head weights. These are low tack relatively low profile and readily available.

Don't expect any big differences-----unless your A/C is consistently dropping to the same side (time after time) in loops, pulls to vertical etc. lateral balance means little----VERY little!

There is a tremendous amount of misinformation on this subject-------published here as a matter of fact------it is simply wrong.

Don't believe me????

Try this qoute from Chip Hyde---http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2388583/anchors_2472166/mpage_//key_/anchor/tm.htm#

I agree with dick. Fly it first. It probably won't need any weight.

I quit checking lateral balance about 10 years ago.
