I'm in highschool and am a big computer programmer and aircraft buider/designer. I was interested in designing an autonomous aircraft using GPS that could fly back and forth from my friends house, who would help me with the project. Does anyone have any experience in this field and if so would they be willing to offer any support.

I really don't think that you'll want to be doing this over a built up area. If something goes wrong and it causes injury or damage then you and your buddy are liable. And I'm pretty sure your AMA insurance does not cover this sort of flying.
