Default RE: two airfoils on one wing

Before computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools took over., it was quite common to use a wing tip airfoil with more camber than the wing root airfoil in order to obtain "safe" stalling characteristics. For best efficency this was combined with geometrical twist (i.e. washout) in order to compensate for the difference in zero-lift angle for the two airfoils.
