Default Dual elevator servos, Best method to determine equal travel?

Guys,
I'm putting two Hitec 5645mg's in the tail of my DP Edge to balance the thing.
What is the best way to determine if each elevator half is getting NOT ONLY EQUAL THROW, but also the same speed of throw?
Am I getting too picky about the speed thing? Is this something I should normally check. I realize the servos are probably going to operate at about the same speed, but I have heard of some who have had one servo that throws at a different speed than the other.
What should I do to set this up the right way?
Which deflection meter is the best?

P.S. Is a deflection meter, the same thing as an incidence meter? Thanks for any help.

Unless you use a "Y" cable you will perceive different deflection rates. What is happening is that the servo speed is the same but because the signals don't cause the servo to start at the same time it looks like one channel is faster than the other. What I have found and have heard from others is that the difference doesn't make any difference in flight.

Thanks Geistware,
Now,
Could you help with another issue.
I set everything up as equal as I could, and I DO have both elevator halves zeroed out at the neutral position WITHOUT having to adjust any sub trims.
Let me also state I'm using a Futaba 9C with the 148DF Receiver.
The manual states to use Ailevator with channels 2 and 8. The receiver is 8 channel, but as you know, it goes to 7 channels, and the last is for the battery.
What is the easiest way to set this up? Can I do it without having to create a "mix".
Is it true I can plug the battery into ANY UNUSED channel and plug my ELEV #2 into the battery slot?
Thanks for your help.

Yes , you can plug the batt. into any unused slot.

I also have the Super 8 radio and I just plugged the second elevator servo into channel 7. Then I mixed the elevator onto channel 7 so they move together.

If you use the Ailevator function on channel 8, the elevator half might be moving with the aileron as well. Something that could be fixed of course.

Tom,
With Ailevator, all you have to do is turn the ailerons to 0% to keep the elevators from acting as ailerons also.
I was just making sure that it was ok to plug the battery into channel 5 or 6 since I don't have flaps or gear.
My channel 7 is my second aileron channel, along with channel 1, of course.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Paul, it sounds like you will have channel 6 free to run your battery. You can place you battery into any slot. What I have done in the past, if you need tail weight, is to place the battery on a "Y" with the servo and switch harness and then run the end of the "Y" through an extension to the receiver which was below the canopy. By doing this, I found that my rudder has less voltage drop when I did maneuvers requiring rudder. Now going with a larger gage wire (I was using HD wire) would have worked as well but the point I am trying to make is that the battery can be placed anywhere in the circuit since all power is in parallel.
