If it passes the various FAA construction quality control and the big IF, if he can get insurance then all the pilot would need would be a private or better with a multi-engine rating. I think that this plane has been around for a long time Norm

I dont' think the ins is a big deal. I know many that flew without it. I had a friend that had a berkut built and flew it without ins. The canard came off. That was a lot of money down the drain, and one life. I was supposed to go get it when it was done in a few weeks after it crashed. that would have sucked bad.
