On a different note,
When ya pull up stakes an move to muncie this has to be a well paying position. No wonder everybody wants it. Theres one spot where a lot of yer dues are going.

What percentage of total revenue are salaries and benefits and what percentage would you find acceptable?

But I know of no organization where the professional staff is unpaid.
BTW, I do not know Pelosi and do not live anywhere near her district. Therefore I have never voted for her nor ever even been in the position to do so. I live in the 49th Congressional District. My Representative is John Campbell, a Republican, whom I voted for. Pelsosi's district is the Bay area, nearly 450 miles north of me. Your comment is yet another example of how you form your opinions independent of any actual facts. It really is wearisome.

Apparently there are some people who also are unaware of how the AMA is organized. There is the volunteer side, the Executive Council, who are elected by the membership, and then there is the paid professional staff side. They are the ones who execute the directives and implement the programs and policies that the volunteer EC decides on. Most every non-profit I am aware of is organized along similar lines.

Whatever, you seem to be the local know it all here, so you have your opinion of what is to much an I have mine. By the way I'm a tea party person an I don't believe in anything big other than our military. You do know that Kalif. is full of R.I.N.O.'s also.

Second, I have not confirmed that Mark Smith is "bad". Have you? OTOH, Mr. Smith and I have very opposing views as to how AMA business should be conducted, and to whom various committee structure should be trusted with. We simply disagree concerning our national organization's management.

Hi Hoss,
I think you should throw your hat into the ring if for no other reason just to scare the POWERS THAT BE. I find it almost funny how much you scare them.

Gentlemen- No need to get into a shouting match over all of this, the fix is already in. I want to say a few words about the appointment of the new CEO that I am sure I will be crucified for saying. I have known Dave for quite a long time. I lived in district 2 and was the IMAA D2 director for five years. Dave is a good person and dedicated to the AMA and model aviation. He works hard at it and is willing to go out of his way to help fellow modelers. All that being said, I am not happy with how all of this went down. Not one person was interviewed for this position although the AMA spent money to advertise the job. I have been told that over 30 people sent in resumes including a person who has a high position in an aviation related non-profit with a soaring membership. The week that this appointment took place, the EC went to Muncie to set-up interviews however sometime prior to the meeting a deal was made and the job went to Dave.
Do I feel that Dave will do a good job-YES. Do I feel he should have been considered-YES. Do I feel the top 8 canidates should have been interviewed-YES. The way this appointment was made stinks of "insider trading" as they say on Wall Street. Why would anyone ever waste the time to apply for a position at the AMA if we do business in such a way?
The AMA needs some reforms as well as some new blood with fresh ideas. The problem is the MEMBERSHIP does not want to get involved as long as someone else is willing to pull the wagon.

The EVP/CFO got his position changed to Hired instead of elected,
Stillman got hired for a job he didnt even apply for (while on the hiring board for it)
and now the No Interviews(?) hiring of DM for ED
.... just the way AMA does things I guess

I think you agree
That if we are so embarrassed about things we've done that we cant even talk about them afterward,
maybe we shouldnt be doing those things in the first place.

By the way red, I thought that you left here. Seems that I remember you saying something like you was done here and you wouldn't ever be back.
If we knew you was coming, we woulda painted the whole forum Bright Red, an hung out signs that said "WELCOME BACK RED"
