Default Large Model Airplane inspector

Hello, there seems to be confusion at my airfield. People are saying that the inspector is responsible everytime I fly !? How could this be. Why would they want to be an LMAI if that were the case...especially for inspections to total strangers. I can see at time of inspection.... But thereafter ? Doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't my ama membership have anything to do with my model ?
please clarify this.....

also,I noticed in the AMA outline of LMA section. If a plane is under 75lbs a self inspection can be done.... How do you go about this ?
thanks for your time.

I recommend you contact AMA. Anything else is just hearsay.

Good luck,

AMA responded. Inspector is not responsible after inspection. After inspection the same rules apply as if it were a 50cc size plane.

Follow the inspection checklist in the LMA document and submit your results to the AMA.

Doesn't this need to be done with a contest director?
or is this something I can do on my own ?

Please read the documentation on the AMA site, then have them clarify any points you don't understand.

Thanks for putting that up! Very much needed. You have Tons of scale realism to work with in that model. I'll have to try and remember to ck in on your youtube channel for more.

I quickly read through this document and didn't see any verbiage about self-inspection. Seems the permit to fly is good for one year and must be renewed thereafter. Flying at a sanctioned even would require an inspection and permit for that event only in addition to the regular permit to fly.

29 pages of stuff...That's why I am going to keep my models under 54.999 lbs. no matter how big they get! Don't want to carry a book around just to fly my GS plane.

Flyingwalinda the self cert instructions start on page 6 for an LMAI-1 aircraft under 77.2 pounds.
