Default How long do you keep your magazine?

I've got about 11 years of Model Aviation that my wife would like to see me toss out. I've always held onto them because I might want to refer to a previous issue for something. So far, I haven't had a need to do so. Nonetheless, I'm sure I'll feel guilty if I toss 'em out after reading them.

What do you guys do?

Harvey

Hi Harvey ,

My magazines only suffer one of two fates . The first and most usual thing is that after I read them I leave them in whichever Doctor's or Dentist's (or whatever) office that I have an appointment with when I've finished reading it . The second fate is that the glossy cover can be a great surface to mix a bit of epoxy on in a pinch when doing some quick repairs , and well , can't go leaving a coverless magazine for anybody (kinda like eating the top of the muffin and leaving them the stump ) so in the trash it goes . Ratio ? maybe 9 or 10 a year are left in the offices and a couple or three fall victim to various projects .

I keep every receipt and owner's manual of every piece of hobby equipment I buy , but I never have I kept collections of M.A. , nor any other hobby magazine I've been subscribed to over the years . Especially now where the internet keeps copies of everything , I see even less reason to keep giant stacks of magazines around , with the right search no mater what it is , pretty much everything but tomorrow's winning lottery number can be found if ya search in the right places .

Hi Init,

I think I remember hearing in another thread that you left them in a Dr's office. We have a Veteran's hospital in Houston that would probably be happy to take them. Regardless of where they go, at least the magazines would do someone some good.

My point, really, was how long others keep their MAs which would help me decide whether to keep mine or set 'em free.

Thanks for your reply,

Harvey

Thought it is a federal law to not throw away Model Aviation, Model Airplane News, National Geographic, etc

I tried that for awhile but my laptop kept slipping off my knees and falling to the bathroom floor!

This month's issue was good, the "Build Issue" (oh sorry that is pronounced /bɪld/)

This so called "Build" process utilizes a substance referred to as "wood" (/wʊd/) and also an apparently quite sticky substance called "glue" (/ɡlu/)

When I got them I rarely read them ,they piled up and eventually were discarded. Such a waste of money.

Mine lasts about 2 hours. I seldom see anything in it of interest.
