Heck, just today I was talking about this video (shameless plug)
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-c...avc-video.html

with someone in another forum. Told them about my gearing problems, how using the recommended gearing from the manual doesn't keep it from overheating in one run, etc etc. Talked about the appropriate gear ratio, and possibly swapping the motor out for something slower but with more torque and less heat, and he's going off losing his mind. I'd rather just delete his posts cause it was my thread, but doesn't seem to work that way over there. I've done all the math, final drive rpm is final drive rpm. if I gear it right, I can make it run like the other one whose video I haven't started plugging yet.

Anyway, there's trolls everywhere.

I need a template for a deep vee boat hull so I can make it out of foam board and hot glue and have some fun with it with some aircraft gear. or maybe make a swamp boat.

Let's see what I can find:
I found this, though I'd coat it with 1/16 ply rather than duct tape: Duct Tape RC Airboat: 4 Steps (with Pictures)
Or maybe this one: Gatorbate - Glow/Gas - RC Boats - Plans - Air Age Store
I don't know anything about this one but thought I'd list it anyway: Kirkwood Rc Mudmasher Airboats

So that's how you put up with us. I knew there had to be some kind of training to be a moderator. I wonder what kind of training Ken had?

Great thumbnail. Brings backs lots of memories. "Who is your daddy, and what does he do?"

Thanks for the bright start to the day.

Back when RCU was young and I was just getting started as a Moderator there was problems with our RC Tanks forum. It was out of control and Marc and Nathan were on the verge of shutting it down because it was so out of control. I told them that instead of shutting it down let me go in and moderate it and clean it up. I spent a few months in the forum getting it cleaned up after that. Then the same thing happened here with the AMA forum. Although the AMA Forum was just a little bit different in how I moderated it. The previous moderators of this forum were also posting here and they would moderate to enforce their viewpoints. So I vowed that when I came on as a Moderator here I would not post so that I could remain neutral in my moderation (I will post thinks like links, phone numbers, etc....). So that's where I got all my training!!!!!

Ken

I LIKE IT! OJT for Ken. I've found that there is nothing better than actually doing something to learn the best way to do so. That said, a majority of what I know I learned through OJT. More often than not, formal training is actually out of date and worthless since the training usually covers stuff from when the training was being developed. With the speed to which things are evolving now days, what was valid information yesterday won't be valid tomorrow
