Gee that is not SPAM in my opinion, just active politicing. I think he needs to get the word out as the AMA needs a definite change. Keep up the good work Dave

Why'd you send spam to all newsletter editors? Seems like a good way to lose votes to me.

As Phil said what I sent to newsletter editors was my campaign statement and a simple request that they consider printing it in a upcoming issue of their club's publication. I even embedded the statement in the message body, where it certainly wasn't formated as neatly, so that there wasn't any undue concern over having to download an attachment. For the record I also sent hard copied USPS to those newsletter editors without email.
I'm asking for our members' vote of confidence to lead this organization for the next three years. I think it's only fair that they know something about the guy who's asking for their support. I can't think of a better conduit to the members in our clubs than the club newsletter. While I did give this some consideration, and anticipated some responses like yours, I felt the pluses to both the member and me far outweighed the negatives.
Our members are starving for communication from us. Especially those in a position of leadership within a club, and this includes newsletter editors. My guess was that the vast majority would appreciate the opportunity to provide my thoughts to their members. And based on the response I've received today I think I was right. Since I sent that out late last night I've received 158 responses. While not all of them said they were voting for me they all said, "Thanks I'll try to get this in." While I'm certain there are others out there, and I expect to hear from them, yours was the first negative response I've heard.
Interestingly, there was a side effect of sending out my statement. I didn't anticipate the number of follow-up questions I would receive, not only about my candidacy, but about AMA in general. I've spent most of today answering those questions, and my bet is I'll spend the better part of tomorrow doing the same. This is a good thing. It shows there are members out there who are interested in the direction of AMA. They just need a little incentive to get involved.
Anyhow, thanks for your comments.

Ok, thanks for the response.
I think I will get a response from members, to see if they want all the campaign statements in the newsletter, and when they are available I will publish yours along with all the others. I think that is only fair.

I appreciated the email and since our club does not have a printed newsletter, I forwarded Mr. Mathewson's letter to all our members via email. I had some positive comments about it today.
To be fair, if I get an electronic communication from the other candidates I will forward them to our members.

As a newsletter editor I did not receive SPAM. I received a great communication that will be in the bi-monthly newsletter that I send in Oct.

Voicing my opinion about Dave Mathewson and his communications .....
Dave Mathewson. truly believes in communications with his members in District II. The District II web site is designed to support a District II Forum, and live chat activities (D2 hanger) which no other district web site has to offer. This in part, is to help support the "Questions and Answers" that many of our members in District II, other AMA Districts or countries may ask Dave Mathewson or one of the moderators. Dave Mathewson does not hide his home address or his phone number to contact him as so many of the other VP's do.
These ideas and many more were contributed to Dave Mathewson's vision which became a reality!
SO Think about it ???? .... His Emails, Snail mails, forums (RCU / District II Forum), Campaign for Dave Mathewson's web site ...... he is working hard for you at this time ...
IF Dave Mathewson is elected as AMA President, he will be a person that you will trust, respect, communicate openly, and supports the AMA not as a modeling activity, but "you as the AMA".
When your ballots arrive in the mail - Think "Fresh Start" - "New Ideas" - "Member Communications" - "AMA Web Site Upgrade", and a privilege to be a member of the AMA!
Hey! Sounds like "Dave Mathewson as "AMA President" to me!
