O.K. I read my mag and then throw it away, so now that I am sending in my application for CD, I am in need of some information from there. In the Focus on Competetion section (Page 165) I need to get the contact information (and name) for the District X Contest Coordinator. So if any of you have the magazine handy, Please Help me out.

If you want to be a Contest Director, you need to be able to find all that information all by yourself. Hard to believe that you want to be a CD, yet you don't hold on to magazines a bit, don't know how to find district officers on either the AMA web or your District web, and don't already have the District Officers in the HARD disk between your ears.
Don't you have any friends that you fly with that can help you out? If this post of yours is for real then you have a lot more to learn than this simple question. I sugest you get on with it
Call or email your DVP and ask him.

Thank you all. I have found the information I needed
Horrace Cain:
Thank you very much for the help, let me know when I can return the favor. The information is only found on MA magazines or by calling the district AVP. One AVP did not have the information handy since I called on his cell phone, so I figure I ask my friends here at RCU, I guess we all know where you stand. I can understand if you did not have it handy or did not want to take the time, but it never stops people from typing something nice

You wish to be a Contest Director. You are a turbine flier from your picture. Once you get the CD rating, you can give out turbine waivers. That makes you a very powerful person relative to the AMA safety precautions, which can, under light treatment, potentially create considerable adverse publicity.
The question you asked is a question on the CD exam. Your D-10 web site is "under construction" and the CC/s are not currently on it. I punched up several District websites and each had the Cont. Coordinator/s listed. So there are other options and your stated "only way" is incorrect. Aren't you lucky that was not a test question?[>:]
The DVP is listed under the "contact" on the D-10 web. If he does not supply you with such information on his Dist. web, then go directly to him for it. As a CD, will you always throw away your available information then get the urge to apply for a sanction and come here to RCU for help. Who will help you in setting up a turbine event? Are you aware where the turbine continuation of the Safety Code is? Do you know the requirements of awarding a turbine waiver flight check? It's all there in the AMA documents.
It's too bad that AMA really does not provide potential new CDs with a Handbook for initial training. As the individual that first initiated and got AMA into a form of CD training, I have witnessed the prostitution of that program since it went into the office rather than being administered by the DVPs themselves. A few years ago there was an 'ad-hoc' committee to reconsider the CD question. I was appointed to that committee, and of course I was the only one that submitted a report. It was in a Staff Study format and was not well received as the actual AMA originators wanted more of a method to discipline Contest Directors rather than assist and support them. My report laid the faults at AMA's door and suggested a number of actions for AMA to institute, but of course they were filed in File 13, as I expected they would be.
In this time AMA has taken several swipes at the Contest Director force. One being early on under the Don Lowe / Bob Underwood regime when they canceled making CDs Leader Members after a year of proper activity and reporting. Neither of them even knew where the authority was written. Guess who had to inform them -- yep this old curmudgeon. However a quick call of the square-table yes-men and they had the authority reversed. CDs are no longer awarded Leader status under CD work and there are no people in AMA that work any harder to promote model aviation than the Contest Directors.
Therefore "turbulence" when I come across those that have so little interest in the order of things that they cannot find the information such as you wanted, and yet they want "Contest Director" on their membership card, I do get a bit burley, and don't plan to change that. Being a CD is a serious responsibility. When one enters the job without taking it seriously, then the AMA hiearchy just has more amunition to degrade the working people that much more. I attend a few events and see some very poorly administrated ones and I also see some very well administrated ones. As one that has contributed to the trade from small Fly-Ins to Assistant Category Director and Manpower Director at a couple NATs, I BTDT since 1963. I still do.
One last note: As a CD, you will find that larger FLY-Ins are actually the most difficult to manage. Fly-In People are mostly not well disciplined, come and go as they please, don't attend or listen to the Pilot Briefings, and just do as they please. If you're not watching, things can get rather scary. The CONTEST fliers know the drill, know how a flight line is supposed to be, and will make a well planned event a nice happening. [8D]
The better prepared -- researched -- the CD is, the better things will go for all. It is really a working job.
edit: add a 'g' and a capital I.

Do you want a cookie or something.
Just help the guy out or at least be nice.
I think its great he's interested in becoming a CD...he's obviously served his 3 years, quit raking him over the coals, and give him a hand. Perhaps he will have a contest that you'll want to go to someday.

Turbulence - and everyone else,
Please don't throw your magazines away - take them to the hospital!
The Pink Ladies (or whatever they are called in your area) give them to the patients.
Just think, you could save some poor soul from dying of boredom in the hospital.
And maybe even get someone new interested in the hobby.
I do recommend obliterating your name and address.
If there is an article worth saving, maybe 2 an issue, I scan it and keep it on my computer.
Good Luck,

Horrace Cain / old curmudgeon, what ever you prefer.
I am sorry that you feel I was trying to cut corners. or how ever you see it. I passed on my MA aviation to a couple of perspective new members /renegade flyers in my area. I guess I should have gotten that info first before i passed them on to someone else. I will note for you that I KNEW EXACTLY where to get that information from and what page of the magazine to boot. I am however very disappointed that you would sit there and type crap like I am entering this side of R.C. and not take it seriously. With words like that I can see why your papers where filed in file 13. You have done great for the Hobby and for AMA, but you know nothing about me, so Please come to my event and see if I am how you portray me to be. Fire away since this will be my last response to you in this matter.
