Just got some numbers from the AMA.
There are about 50 employees with an average salry of $50K/year.
That is a bit excessive.

Oh, really? For that area maybe, but then again maybe not. How are the salaries broken down? Who gets paid what?

Sorry, but I just don't see the problem.

Just for a comparison. The mayor in the last town I lived in was only paid $8K per year.

How much do you think teachers should make when most of the them have 3 or 4 months off in a year . If your last mayor made 8 thousend a year he was working part time and doing this on the side or he was retired. If you dont renew your dues you wont be able to fight the wage crimes of the ama.I pay my dues and if they make a good living of my dues a year god bless them. I retire in 6 months ,i might go and apply for a job there or maybe just work for free. joe

I am not faulting them. I am simply asking questions and posting data. If they work full-time that is a fair salary. If they are doing work that the elected officers should be doing then shame on the officers. Don't volunteer or run for election if you aren't going to do the work. BTDT

It is not the fault of the employees. I am asking for more data. The AMA wasn't much help as I had to the IRS and get the tax returns to get much of the info. I have been on this planet to long to believe that everyone is doing the right thing in NPO's. I always assume ignorance before malice though.

that is an outstanding attitude to have
If you want to work for free at muncie, I support your decision all the way.
heck, if you want to commit to more than 2 years I would stand behind Muncie paying your move out there.

Come to think of it,
you'd get one sweet sweet 'local flying field' outta it too [8D]

In a real short time we found a guy willing to work muncie outta love for the hobby.
Imagine if we put some real effort into finding retirees and interns,
to replace a bunch of the "I'll help the hobby if you pay me $50k" folks
(we do kinda have a 100k+ national magazine some media graduates would die to intern for... looks good on a resume)

Operators union in Il 40 an hour on their check ,laborers union 37 bucks a hour . my carpenters union 38 bucks a hour . my girl friend works for the state and watches the mentally insane and makes over 60 thousend a year , thats how we met .lol plumbers are going on strike on monday 46 bucks a hour . these are what they take home on their checks not benifits. So if i hire a company to do electric for his company is charging me 65 to 70 bucks a hour per man plus pipe and wire . Most guys in the trades if they are good are making well over 100.000 a year. I think 50 is a middle number. I am a boss in the company and i am a firm believer in hiring the best people we can find ,it just saves you money in the long run . For that kind of a job what kind of people you think you are going to hire for 10.000 or 20.000 a year. I never finished my second year in high school and 50.000 is less than i would work for. joe

The mean wage at the AMA is $25/hr. I need to revaluate this in lite of the fact that 4 people are getting paid twice that amount or more and that 30% of the employees are making more than 50K/yr. This data is trickling in because the AMA is reluctant to provide public documents (law for NPOs). I had to search government records to get what I have.
Is 50 employees excessive? I thnk so, it is upto the AMA to justify it to members.
Is 15 employees over $59k/yr excessive?. I thnk so, it is upto the AMA to justify it to members.
Is 4 employees getting combined salaries of $350K/yr. excessive? I thnk so, it is upto the AMA to justify it to members.

A member does not have to prove anything. The AMA has to prove to the members.
I ask questions, I expect answers.
This is an non-profit organization run by its members, not a corporation that answers to noone but shareholders.

Joe
Operators union in Il 40 an hour on their check ,laborers union 37 bucks a hour . my carpenters union 38 bucks a hour
sure
We submitted an electrical bid for $800k,
later we found the medical building was owned by the school district, so we had to pay PrevailingWage,
which then raised our bid to $1.2mil and added a month
(our inside wiremen werent dumb, they work fast for peicework and slow for prevailing wage)

Citing overpaid workers is not justification to overpay other workers.
If there are qualified folks willing to do a $40 job for $21,
then it is not a $40 job: Its a $21 job with an overpaid person in it

Every one wants to pay less until they want to cut your wages . You guys are nuts ! Every time they want to cut teachers wages or lay them off they get together and whine like a school girls . The next thing that happens is our taxes go up and they get their raise and non get layed off. The last guy who posted what do you do for money and i could say you are over payed and you would whine too. Good luck with your witch hunt and happy flying at your park or where ever,i will be at my ama club field flying . Oh bye the way hire some cheap trades when you want to build your next house and see how that works out for ya . lmao

Not sure where you live but in most of the USA teachers starting salary is less than $25/yr. Only with a PhD and 15 years service do our districts' teachers reach $80K/yr. Most people with Doctorates are getting about 3 times that. Education is one of the best bargains going. Do you whine that your M.D. is making over $300K per year? Yeah, health is important but how many doctors (or anything else) would there be if you had no elementary and high schools.

If you want a good example of overpaid we had it here locally a week or so ago. The city of Bell had a major scandal when the pay for the city council and other city officials were made public: City Council members $100k/year; City Controller and Mayor $800k/year; Police Chief $700k/year. This was revealed when a part-time Councilman was being paid $154/week and wondered how the others could afford their lavish lifestyles. As a law enforcement dispatcher for the state I made $37k/year. Nowhere near enough for the job stress incurred. Seeing those peoples' pay made me angry, I can only guess what the city residents must feel.

I honestly don't see anything out of the ordinary with the pay level for AMA's permanent employees. How long have they been working for the AMA? What other benefits and perks do they get? Too many unanswered questions for this witch hunt to be justified if you ask me.

There is that kind of monkey business everywhere. Why do you think I am questioning the AMA finances.

Most doctors and laywers are still paying off gov grants for school long after they start to practice as long as they did not have a silver spoon in their mouth. I have met teachers that were not worth the 28 thousend a year pay and i have met some that were under payed. It depends on how much they put fourth in their job, but no one realy watches them like you are talking about your witch hunt on the ama. Go teach a student and get some more degrees ,i hope you have a long time teaching life . I had a teacher that taught building and trades ,a old sweed .When i droped out of school he got me in the carpenters union 37 years ago ,all of the students talk about him till this day for his love of his students and helping guys like me who were not ment for school. If you dont think your students will talk about you 37 years from now you are not doing your job. I can not spell very good but the company i work for has a collage grad to send my emails and take all my messages for me in my office. joe

I am still paying off school loans, why can't I get paid a doctors salary? My education cost almost $200K yet I get nowhere near an M.D.s salary.

I got 3 words sisco ,not smart enough , or, not tough enough. You think that the people running the ama are some hillrods with no education. I dont know for sure but i would bet they are educated people who have worked their way into these jobs from other fields. I still say 50.000 a year is not alot of money .

As soon as you post all the positions and attendent salaries I will consider changing my point of view.
I don't know about your area but around here most people are making far less than $50K/yr.
Maybe they should leave Muncie and move the offices here.

Thats my point of view you have no point of view because you dont have all of of the facts sherlock. You are out of order, caput ,dead in the water but you keep posting and flapping your gums with no facts. I love beeing a non educated person and getting sisco all wound up . lmao Get all of you papers and come back when you have every thing just correct . This has been fun for me and i hope others have seen how people just get crazy thuoghts in their minds about money wasting and corrupt salarys when they have no real facts and cant get them or wont . Good bye sisco let us know when you find the rat in the ama who aloud all of people to make more money than you . I retire in 6 months and can wait for you to return . I will renew my ama dues so some sick person who works at the ama can pay for their kids to have a education like yours. Like i said before a mind is a terrible thing to waist . I bid you all adue . joe

That is what we educated people call facts.
You seem to have nothing but ignorance.

I never said I had all the facts.
I do have the IRS documents.
So I guess what you are saying is that the AMA lied on their tax return?
I don't think they did.
The figures are accurate and so is my breakdown of those figures.
