And AMA is sayin' an under 2 pound model will do only $0.00 in injury (no med coverage for PP).
Touché… Unless you have the official AMA issued polarized glasses, that is a very good point.

BTW I am sure that if I hadn’t given you that point one of the AMA disciples would certainly have…just to be fair as they always are…NOT

Again since this is a USAMA thread some of the regulars still want to drive it off topic. and make it a AMA bash thread.

They're good at it. They get a lot of practice.

It is about USAmA,
Sammy said he thought the $5k medical seemed low,
Dads mentioned the company thought a <12lb model would only do $5k damage,
and we heard some other weights and coverages to place the USAmA coverage in scope:
100lb (any) $25000
12lb (any) $5000
2lb (e) $0
4oz (RubberFF) $25000

now we have the scope of weights and coverages to see how USAmA $5k relates in scale

The USAMA will suit me. Think I'll send off my $20 this week an save the other $38 to buy something else I can use...

I don't know about that. Before I came to look in this forum I was happy as a clam with the AMA and the benefits that came with membership in the only national organization that represented my interests in modeling. I didn't realized how bad I was beingripped off until now.

Not quite correct. He may be the only one that has mentioned that he will...[sm=75_75.gif]

Now, for those that can't afford the $20 LOL you need to get out of the hobby...LOL... So dang funny looking at it from that goofy perspective...just cracks me up but hey... some of you will never find the humor in it and that cracks me up even more...[sm=lol.gif]

For $20 I'll see what I get. Not that bigga lose if it's a scam. [8D]

Geeze, back when I was 16, I did 5,000 dollars of damage to my hand with a 1/4 ounce TEE DEE prop spinning at 30K, I gues that's a little low on coverage. But I guess it's secondary insurance, my health insurance is primary coverage.

Good point. This is about the USAMA and its status not the AMA. My thread was relocated to the back-forty. Yet this one stays.

I think they need to pick a better name..

I searched for USAMA and only got 1 million hits for Usama Bin Laden.

Hang on Homeland security is at the door asking why I'm searching for Usama..

Someone should tell the FBI they got it wrong

http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/laden.htm

Aliases: Usama Bin Muhammad Bin Ladin, Shaykh Usama Bin Ladin, the Prince, the Emir, Abu Abdallah, Mujahid Shaykh, Hajj, the Director

Anyway back on topic..

Looks like the U.S.A.M.A is targeted mostly at the park flyers and small glow polwer planes with that 12lb limit..
That won't help me much when I get to building the giant scale kits I have.

Do they have any guidelines on what a safe flying should be?
Looks like no..

on the sign up sheet..
No safety code fly responsibility

I wonder how well the first claim for damage from a plane launched rocket will be received..

Oh no theft or fire coverage either.. I know some folks who have used that part of the AMA insurance.

Well shucks. I was hoping to hear something one way or the other by now. Looking through this thread and the other, there were a couple of folks that were sending their $20 in to see what happens.

Standing by.

Mark,

I could, but I'm not THAT curious. I was just hoping to hear some feedback from those that said they were going to do it. I guess they changed their mind?

No...I personally know for certain there are those, that also posts here, that have joined USAMA. I guess they just feel it is just their business…That is ok…isn’t it?

Of course it's OK. I was just curious to know how it went as I'm sure there are others as well. I know some folks were looking at having this as an additional/primary insurance to their HO insurance and their AMA liability insurance if they belong to the AMA.

Perhaps one day they will share their feedback with us.
