Default Is it me?

I normally wait till the last minute to renew my AMA every year. Doing it online pretty much makes it effective immediately. This year seems like I'm getting more than the usual "reminders". Any one else notice it?
Merry Christmas.

They go away as soon as you renew.

Yep, not only got an email reminder citing all that AMA does for the hobby…even Red S. actually dunned me publicly along with posting my personalized AMA #...on an open internet forum...how it is he knows my status and number is very disconcerting...but that he even cares is much more disturbing…

I renewed yesterday on line, and a half hour later got my reminder.

If you know someone's last name and AMA number you can check their current status here:

http://www.modelaircraft.org/MembershipQuery.aspx

It returns their name and when their membership expires

I am not sure about the lag time now from renewal to updated status but IRC it was sometimes as long as a few weeks before current status is availible through that link. Either way, my AMA number is my AMA number...I paid extra for it... and Red S. has zero need to verify it and certainly has Zero right to display it at his whim...

Been lurking here, but this post is puzzling. Why would anyone go to the bother of getting a custom AMA number and then get all bent out of shape when it appears on a forum in a reminder to renew?

lol, you act as if your AMA # is your SSN. Most flying sites require you to post your AMA card on the board. Anyone can read it, hell, my AMA number is on all my planes. You really shouldn't worry about it, it isn't like someone can steal your identity if they have your last name and your AMA #

What is even more puzzling and actually quite strange is that someone from Florida…hmmm… just joined RCU…hmmm… and promptly posts about my concerns about the display of my personalized AMA number...why would some one post my number in the first place and even crazier… you join RCU to make issue of my concerns...really weird to say the least…What is your relation to RED… are you two joined somehow? One in the same? Red has been known to have more than one user name…Oh well…

Look… I bought and paid extra for that personalized Name...Wasn’t given to me and Not a NUMBER actually... If Red wishes to use it he could have asked...he didn't...certainly not his to use as he wishes...it is mine. And no matter the case, his use of it was out of line and inappropriate…the only reason he used it was to disturb me…to what extent he accomplished that goal of his is something only I can determine…not you are anyone else...get over it...

New reply... not an attack just my response:

Any ideas???

Why are you so puzzled?? Let me try to clear your mind; The very reason I "bothered" is to get a personalized number and by its very nature it is personal to me and no matter how you feel or anyone else feels it is irrelevant to you. Now, do you understand? If not I will continue and try to clear it up for you.

Naw, he didn't do anything like that. You would have had to have been here through all the angst and stuff. He used to be a nice guy, but fell in with the electric crowd.

From many years of Internet association with Red, IN MY OPINION, Red really should have been a Congressman or such. He is for sale to the highest bidder. Once Red received some "doggie-treats" from both RCU and AMA he became a great foe of those that would question the King's authority. Some of us are not for sale and while I, myself, may not be so vocal at times, my thoughts do not change with the King's Proclamations. The back-burner continues to remain rather warm. That is not to say that I will not say good about good proclamations. I do so when good happens. I wish only good happened, however, IMO, it does not always do so.

When Red was made a moderator here on RCU, my searches failed to find many postings that I remembered, as signed by Red, yet NOT favorable to AMA. Amazing how some things do disappear . Tools do that on my work benches, yet when I do a real clean-up, I seem to find they have just been hiding their little selves from me. However those postings have not reappeared as my tools so often do. [sm=confused.gif]
