As far as the looks and feel of the website goes I like to refer back to the old saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". If you think about it, you have older people who do not know that much about the Internet and can barely get around on it. Then you have the young generation that grew up with the Internet and know how to get around it quite well....sometimes too well. In any case since AMA has been around a few decades you have to make things easier to find for the older generation. The younger generation looks at the website and says geez this website is cheese because it looks so dated. You have to find the right mix of things to make a cool website but yet make it easier for the less Internet savvy people. The AMA's website does seem dated at first look, but it does offer forums and data that members find useful. Hossfly finds it adequate for his purposes and he is AMA's biggest critic. Another thing I have learned is that you cannot please everyone.

Bull Pukky!

I'm past the original mandatory retirement age, and get around on the Internet quite well thank you. Don't make blanket statements. They bite back. As to the AMA site being so cheesy to draw we of the geriatric set, that ain't necessarily so. Cheesy is cheesy. You can't put a pair of red silk drawers on a Spotted Poland-China sow and pass her off as a go go dancer either. It's cheesy, it's cheap looking, and it appears that they have not a clue as to what they are doing. In short, it's a lousy site. But it's about on par with what else they have done in the last few years. Have a look at the PPP.

99.9% of the membership could get along just fine without the website.

It isn't needed, it's more like a toy. It's SuPERfoolus.

The time devoted to it is non-productive. If they took the website down tomorrow, I'd still have my AMA card, my insurance and my stack of magazines.

I'd still have the rest of the internet where all the relevant and up to date info that has to do with this hobby already exists.

BTW, does the AMA plan service have any models that won any hardware after 1970?

Thus is why I said you cannot make everyone happy.
If it was made to your specifications and likeness someone else would not like it. You are fortunate to have such experience in computers, but it still does not negate the fact that there are a lot of others who do not.
