It's called a GINGO conflict. When you give garbage input you get garbage output.
Your story was so vague it was a joke, ala garbage in.
Also club problems should be best discussed with the club members. Not with loose descriptions on the net. You might as well call a radio station morning show and get resolution on air with a surprise phone call.

If it was my club I'd be curious. I wouldn't be upset without knowing more information around the circumstances of the outing. Without some details of exactly what happened and why, it's really impossible to know if one should be upset or not.

Do you have any more information than you've provided here?

In your initial posting you asked if it was "legal". The most likely correct answer to that is, "probably". A better question might be is it "ethical" or is it "apropriate". But even then, without some idea of the circumstances it's not really a question that can be answered, is it?

I only posted this on the request of a member from the other club. It had nothing to do with ME. But from your reply, it seams like you have been in the GINGO concept for quite a long time.....:)
