Are there any plans for a RCBOTTOMFEEDERS monument? I think something like what they did at Mt Rushmore would be alright [8D].

This could be etched in to a marble base:

"Much of what is written on the modeling Web definitely fits into the category of "pseudofact." That may not be where it starts, but 25 pages of posts later, the real facts and issues have essentially disappeared."

Muncie staff are not idiots, they did figure it out,
but some committee policy is lame in requiring it even if the old guy SO wont check it.

Does Toolman's club have an email address for Muncie to use? YES.
Why is muncie making with all the drama over it
I think all the drama lies within this thread.

If the "Old Guy SO" doesn't check his email or even have is he a good pick for Safety Officer? Sounds like a local club issue to me.

What's next? Pillory the AMA for forcing a SO to have a telephone or street address? Oooo. The AMA is forcing me to buy a phone. Waaa. The AMA made me move out of my refrigerator box and get a real postal address.

And these are the same folks who want online MA only.

It takes 30 seconds to set up an email addy and if the SO was too feeble to check it then another member could receive it and print it for him. Quite Frankly I would be suspect of a SO that didn't even have the ability or motivation to check email.

My stars.

I guess we're going to have to let the Blue Sky (I guess he's the forum Admin over there) sort it out. He's told both Stick and Mongo that they are number 1, and me that I'm 2. I hope he doesn't get out of hand and he has to ban somebody. :D

Oh Lord, another Brotherhood group, Oh well, let her rip. Maybe it will be as successful as the other one, and then maybe Muncie will start paying some attention.

Sorry Stick, you need to go back to the original bottom feeder generating thread, you will be third or fourth on the list.

I tell ya what slick, that old man has been in the ama for over 30 some years an has a whole room full of trophys from flying events. He's probably taught well over a hundred or so people to fly that I know about including me.
He's also a bigshot in the ham radio org too. He just doesn't see any need for a computer.

Just because a person is over 55 and doesn't own a computer thats no reason to look down upon him as a nobody.

Next time your up this way, let us know an we'll let you tell this feeble ol' guy that to his face.....hows that? ;)

techno-fascism.
Another term for "progress". Nothing new, been going on since before the first guy figured out flintknapping , or fire-making.

Of course, everyone has to decide for themselves what is progress.

For the record, I think the requirement for any specific club officer to have e-mail is a bit heavy handed. I know a lot of middle-aged people without computers. It would be easy to get the guy one, cheap or even free, but then he has to pay for internet service. Just wrong, IMO.

Progress.

The spokeslizard for my car insurance is always on the radio telling folks that you get the same great service in person, over the phone, or on the internet. They can handle continuing to do business by other mediums even though they have embraced the technology progress called the internet.

One can only hope that Muncie would expand into the internet rather than shift from pre-internet to internet only.
As for the AMA efficiency of using emails, its kinda hit & miss: ina thread not long ago I posted a copy of an email I sent to AMA, and then weeks later I posted the resending of that email, then later still I posted having to abandon hopes of getting a reply from that AMA email and sent to DM... which of course we rapidly (next day) responded to.

To AMA, it seems using email is not always such a fast thing,
had I just called instead of sending that first email it would have saved weeks of waiting for the AMA email replies.

So much for AMA using email for efficiency

Don't jump to conclusions froggy.

Never questioned his experience.
Never questioned his dedication to training newbies.
Could care less if he's 15 or 55.
What's your point. You don't have one.

Don't travel through your state much. Make it worth my while and maybe I'll go out of my way Festus.

Nobody making him buy a computer, nobody making him pay for internet service. Email addresses are free and so is internet access in a number of places. You seem to spend alot of time on yours, you could monitor his addy and print messages out for him. Is that too hard or would it just be one less thing you bottom feeders could b*tch about?

So, again, what's your problem?

Robo-

you could monitor his addy and print messages out for him.
thats kinda the whole point
why HAVE TO list an address for the SO when those emails will just have to go thru another officer anyway.

as I said, if that club does as you say, and gets a free address for THE CLUB,
and list it over & over & over & over & over on the charter
then AMA will grant the charter.
But if they list that Club email address just over & over & over, instead of over & over & over & over & over (not repeating it for the SO ), then AMA will refuse the charter due to lack of email repetition?

combatpigg 03-08-2009 11:03 PM

RE: Must own a computer?

"PROGRESS"......There is nothing PROGRESSIVE about making internet access an ultimatum.
99.9% of clubs will have a safety officer with email, naturally. True or False?
Not because of some edict. True or False?
Without the email requirement they would have to manually call 5-10 SOs with no email. [obviously a guess]
With a little bit of willingness to serve us, they would be happy with any club officer's email. True or False?
Not only do they see this present requirement as a way to cover their behinds, they also see it as a time saver. True or False?
It gives those fat little fingers more time to reach for doughnuts instead of the grueling task of manually dialing a few phone numbers. True or False?
Anyone who sees this not the same way as I do is an idiot. ;)
.....True or False?

Some clubs have 100 members. Does the AMA expect the SOs to phone or write a letter to each member about a "safety emergency"?
Or would the AMA actually need to make it a requirement for all members to have email to make this idea of their's a practical reality?

What a bunch of fascist dogs! Demanding - - demanding that fiber optics be run to EVERY SAFETY OFFICER'S HOUSE! Demanding that every safety officer check e-mail constantly WHILE FLYING THEIR MODELS! Putting safety officers who exercise the freedom and right to be ELECTRON-FREE up against A WALL AND SHOOTING THEM! Down with the fascist dogs! Viva la incommunicado!

If you guys are going to lather yourselves up and re-characterize the nature of what the AMA is trying to do, you might as well exaggerate properly...

No, I just figured you needed a dose of the truth.
Instead of you going off like Dr Albert Hoffman on his famous bike ride in 1936, just address the points I made.
Your well known pattern is to evade cogent argument with sophomoric arm waving and ranting that doesn't impress [or surprise] anyone anymore.

Maybe AMA should require all members to have email accounts...if immediate communications about safety are so important, how could they consider anything less?

Nope, not all of that handfull will have to be called.
Toolman's club had no SO email listed, yet Muncie used email with that club to conduct the business of getting that problem corrected. Of the few clubs that have SO's without their own email, I am guessing the overwhelming majority have at least 1 email listed for the other officers.

The only calls that would need to be mad is when the club has NO officers with email
