Hum, two piece wheel paints. I may well be interested depending on what the two pieces are. How do you plan to divide up the wheel paints?

the first wheel pants we had were 2 piece. No one liked them, so we went to all one piece. and ALL the new ones are coming in as 1. getting extras also. we should have then here in about 4 weeks.

I am still thinking through how I will get the wheel paints around the struts. If they were two pice like as clam shells split in the middle from wing to wheel it would be a very simple matter. It is possible to use the stock ones but assembly will be tricky.

No..... It will be just fine with the Robart struts.  You unscrew the wire from the strut than they slide in. OR.. you can seperate them, slide them down threw..... connect wheel than pull back up and install wire to wing.

Hi Guys.
I finaly got around to test flying the Mods I carried out to my 50cc GB-R3. It now fly straight, no more crabbing around the sky.
There was just not enough fin area. The fences fitted give it that little bit more direction control. It's now a joy to fly.

VERY INTERESTING!!   Glad it fixed it!!  I am also glad to tell EVERYONE that I had a visit with Robart and the owners. We have came up with the oleo strut design. They shoul be ready at the end of November 2012

I see the modifications you did to keep it light. Put the Elevator servos up front.
With mine. I'm using a GF55 II and had to put the dual batteries above the cylinders and still add a bit lead.
Nice flying....

OK Everyone, we have the Robart Oleo struts...........I have to say I amHAPPY!! So.......Price for the 30cc GeeBee Oleo Struts are 359.95a set. The 50cc GeeBee Oleo Struts are 389.95 a set.

Robart has done a GREATjob on these and they will withstand a very hard hit and not hurt the wheel pant. This has already been tested and it all worked GREAT!

What I will do is offer a 10% discount if you order them. I will do this tell Dec. 7, 2012

A few years back when we originally bought our 50cc R3s [April 2011], we were told we could trade in the ones that came with the planes and get upgrades for a nominal fee, when they became available.
This is way more than we planned to pay after waiting all this time and given the fact that the supplied gear were not useable.
This brings the total cost of this kit close $1000, which is an awful lot of money for this plane.

I say it is what it is. I got around 90 flights on my BME50 powered 30cc Gee Bee R3 with smoke

as anyone bigger birds know good retracts cost almost as much as the birds them selfs

exsample: I just got a New TopFlite Gaint P40. Tower had a sale on them for $425 from $700. And the Robart retracts cost $400 just for the maIns

I would like a new set of wheel pants. As mine got messed up In crash

I want to know how often do you 50cc guys use your flaps and do they help?

I agree, every plane I have built or assembled the retracts have always been very close to the cost of the basic plane before the electronics were added. How did you put it."it is what it is"

yes not retracts but the top flight Gaint p51 retracts are $300. I broke both struts. Which cost $75 for new stuts. So when you consider these GeeBee landing gear uses 2 sets of stuts at really long lengths its what I would expect.

I say get the nice air fill low bounce tired you would be all good

I'm also having to come up with a similar set up for a Pacific Aeromodel GBY. The supplied gear are solid wire with no shock absorption at all and no doubt will damage the wing after any landing that's not perfect.
Robart has an upgrade for this plane but they are $200. Just might have to bite the bullet if I can't fabricate something...

Paul, You think I am happy about this?? NO, I am NOT! When I started all this and first talked to Robart it was said that they would be around 175.00 to 200 for the 50cc. That was GREAT!! So I figured that, HELL why not just include them with all the kits!! Well, I has kicked in the head and got the brains knocked out of me!! I will talk to them today (11-7-2012) and see what the price would be IF there were no modes done. I asked them to put 2 barbs on the ends instead of one. This way it CANNOTrock in the wing. You have 2 inserts in the wing instead of one. I will ask what just the one barb will cost and report back. OR I may go to China and ask them about it. Don't want to, But it may end up that way.

Paul, I have always wanted to bring out the best in the planes I sell. I think you knnow that by talking to me. I will try and do my best to get any and all issues resolved. I DONOT run away from being bashed or hit on, I am always there to resolve it, even if it cost ME! I will let everyone know what I find out.

Yes to all of that.
I would say that you have been great in addressing all the issues with this model and without exception, have stepped up to the plate to get things fixed. And yes, our conversations have always been cordial and productive.
I guess at the end of the day, we're all just a little dissapointed that all the bugs weren't worked out, before this plane came to market. That's probably true of many models though, that are coming out of China......Just look at some of the KMP planes.
Robart offers a great product line and if you want a set of their gear, I guess you just have to pay for them.

Could someone please help with the setup opn this plane? If you have flown this thing more than once.......... where did the best C of G end up???? I have read every forum I could find, and I get 78mm, 80mm, 95mm from leading edge or 460mm from front of cowl, or 3/4" in front of center of wing tube and then another said 1 3/4" in front of center of wing tube for better stability.... Can somebody give me the one that actually works please!!!!

Now on the throws..... I have 7/8" on ailerons, 1 1/4" on elevator and tons of rudder like 2" - what are you guys running?

with a rcg50 and 21x8 prop, 4" wheels, foamed inside the LG, beefed up the firewall, added 12oz. to noseand 1/3 tank of fuel I am at 17.3 lbs and my CG is currently at 1 3/4" in front of the center of the wing tube or about 108mm from leading edge, I will be doing my maiden on saturday and we already lost one at our field on its maiden flight due to not being setup correctly, I would really like this to go better than the last one!!!

· CG – ¾ inch in front of the center of the aluminum wing tube. This plane has a tendency to be very tail heavy. Added weight is necessary in the nose as gas engines are heavier than electric and although the fuel tank weighs less than the batteries, the weight of the motor is farther forward and therefore has a greater impact on the balance and CG. MAKE SURE THIS IS CORRECT BEFORE FLIGHT!


- Rudder - should be FULLTravel in both Directions!!

- Elev. Full Throw, both ways with 50% expo.

- Ail. - Full Throw with 65% Expo.

This is my set-up. As I do not do Dual rates.

I believe the one we lost was cg'd at 3/4" in front of center wing tube..... It was way tail heavy and all over the place....

You say full travel on all channels, what exactly is full travel in a measurement? all servos come with different horns and too many variables involved... could you please be more specific?
