Even on the full-scale Gee Bees, the struts were always one of the weak points. The long legs and wheel pants that can be damaged continue to cause issues even on models, all brands.. Robarts and other aftermarkets are often used.

I raise an eyebrow (Spock-like) each time I see the struts mentioned.

Are there any photos or diagrams of what these Robart struts will look like?

Not yet but when they become available you will be able to go on Robart's site and download the tech drawings that will have on them the dimensions. Robart supplies these drawings for every strut they build.<o></o>

Are those approximately the projected Robarts?

Both ways they move are correct, but without dimensions to reference, the travel looks minimal.[X(]

They will definitely need flying wires out to the sides anchoring them down. Way too much torque in something that long to not be secured. Typical Gee Bee, in other words, even if it's the fantasy version! I would've killed for a set like that about 13 years ago.

Looking for an update on the replacement parts that were promised for my 50cc version. It has been well over 8 months and I have not received one promised part or even a single updated E-mail for that matter on what is going on. My plane is still in the box awaiting the updated parts as promised.

GotSky,

Read the posts on the last page. A container is coming in right away, and they talked about it. I think your parts might be on that.

I have sent you E-mails and I have called. Yes maybe it was 4 months ago, but you did assure me that you would keep me updated. I do not get on the forums much and it is sad that the only way I can get some sort of update is to read through pages of posts of folks asking for the same thing. Lets be realistic about this. I'm sure what you sold maybe
30 to 50 of these planes? Would it be so hard to set up a group E-Mail in your chosen service provider and to maybe type up a quick update each month to send out. Even if it just says sorry no update yet. It is something that will reassure your customers that you are dealing with it and are staying in touch. It's really sad that customer service is not what
it should be. If you have time to type on a forum I'm sure you have time to send those of us that have paid you an updated E-mail every now and again. Its not something that need to hide in a Private Message as I can bet there are others that don't speak up that feel the same way. Please let me know if you need a shipping address again and I will give you a call or E-Mail it to you.

I do understand what you are saying and asking! I am a one man show and need customers to let me know problems and so on.... All it takes is some help, to make things work out for the best on both sides. I hope you understand...

I received my new Gee Bee R3 30. What a beautiful plane. I have decided on a Pterodactyl PTE36R engine for mine. I was however wondering what size/Torque servos I should us for the ailerons and elevator halves. Anyone have suggestions. I want t keep the weight down expecialy on the elevator ones sence they are in the aft fusaglege. I have some 81oz-in. at 4.8v, 93oz-in. at 6.0v that are 43.0 (g) and I have some 118oz-in. at 4.8v, 133oz-in. at 6.0v ones that are56.0 (g)

The 93oz will be fine for the Aili.'s. For the Elev. I would use the 133oz

Hi Ultra Im pulling a 12x6 and so far is a good fit....lets you haul more airplanes than you need to a fly in and is small enough for most pick up trucks...I like it a lot You looking for a trailer? I bought mine at Lowes and has brakes...the rear door opens as a ramp which really helps for larger planes...thats probably the one thing that I would recommend no matter what size you buy. Ive seen a lot of guys struggle with their planes with a side opening door. Hope this helps

What size servo armis tobe used on the rudder servo for the 30cc version? Ihave never done the pull pull cables before. I measured 3.5 inches between the outer holes on the rudder control horns. Does this mean I need a 3.5 inch servo arm?

Also, which vertical mark on the firewall do I use to line up my engine? It has two vertical marks.

I have been doing a bit of thinking of the struts for the Gee Bee R3 30cc size.I have come up with the below. It is basically a Robart #664 strut and a Robart #668 strut with their tubes cut longer by Robart. The 664 would be cut at 15” and the 668 at 12”. They would share the same tire axel. The tops would be anchored by either the cut off tops from the supplied landing gear wire or new thicker wire could be bent to match.I plan to solder on bracing wire anchor point above each connecting link of each strut. The limit to this combination is a 3” wheel. If one were to move up to the #674 and #678 you could get a 3.5” wheel.
Robart quoted me a price of $25 additional per strut to make them.

Gerry,
Do you have or are you going to have beefier cowls (& pants) for the 30cc size too?
