Question on the hinges:
It says they are pre glued, with the arrow pointing to the control surface side of the hinge. Then the code for applying epoxy is also in the box.(pic 1&2) I am thinking it has to be glued to the flying surface, but i cant get them apart. Am I missing something here, are they glued already? I tried all the control surfaces and I cant get them apart using normal force, don't want to pull them out if they are glued...
Here are some pics of the fuse, you can see the glue and that is always a good thing.. The quality of this arf is very good and you cant beat the price..

sheet. I also noticed in the pics you posted of the nose gear bearing block that it is bolted in place, where as mine had machine screws
attaching it to the former, and also there is a plywood piece on the floor of the fuselage just below the block that is not there on my
older model. Looks like they made a few improvements since I bought mine, but just the same an awesome looking model at the field,
you will enjoy it with your youngster, good luck and have fun ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Kind of what i was thinking Bill..
Got the cowl all cut out and decals are on, pretty much done with this sucker.. I do have to go get a spinner, the one that came with it is junk. The back plate is twisted , so into the can it goes...

Here are some pics, just need to set up the radio gear and she will be good to go... The blue head on the EV40 looks pretty good. The boy is really getting pumped up to fly, I think this trainer isgoing to be a winner. I was a little worried about a 69" ws plane with a 40, but after working on this thing, there is no doubt that it will fly it just fine. It is light and has lots of lift with the wing and fuse, alsowith the light wing loading it should be a good first plane for him...

Boy does this bring back memories! If this Tamecat is anything like the one Jeff Troy sold about 15 years ago it is a great trainer very very easy to fly. With the CG set with a slight nose down no fuel it will self recover easily. The Tamecat was the first plane I learned to fly, I had a Thunder tiger 40 in it this was more then enough power for this plane. While learning to fly at first I had problems landing the Tamecat, just too much airspeed and with the flat bottom wing it is a real floater! I had about 400 flights on it before a weak battery pack sent it into the ground. My fault I should of replaced the pack but money was tight back then but I'll never do that again. Good luck with yours I'm sure she will fly great! I wonder if they are going to bring back the F-22?

Well the tamecat flew this eve and it flew great, 2 clicks of down elev. and to clicks of left and it was flying hands free. My son was so excited to finally get to fly and I'm proud to say, he is hooked. We got two flights in and everything was a hit.. The 40 is the right motor for this plane, we flew it around at half throttle and it moves pretty dang good a full.. Rolls are what you would expect from a high wing trainer, slow and stable on low rates. We didn't try any on high rates yet, but I'm sure it will be a bit quicker.. Loops were nice and straight, pretty happy with this plane...
My son did great for his first two flights, his instructor only had to take it back a couple times because he was getting a bit far out.. He had a couple of to much controls, but recovered himself very well.. pretty proud of him.. Hopefully the weather will keep getting better so we can get him more stick time..
Thank you to everyone who said to go with the 40, good call....

I also have one of these, I have a Thunder tiger 46 up front. It take the full length of the runway to get it to lift other that that its great to fly. You were right about the spiner mine flew off on the second flight just after it was started so it now has a Aluminium one. I also need to finish it and that means putting on the cowl. I always have a flight or two before the cowl is fitted to any aircraft.
Now that I have this fantastic looking aircraft in the air,I am about to see if I can find a plan for the Flying Models Crusader (june 1970) this also was a great looking model. same type of placement of the motor .
Enjoyed the read of the thread and it was great to read positive reports. Yours Down under Paul T.

Thanks Paul.. I went with a yellow replacement spinner and it looks good, it shows up in the sky pretty good and there is yellow in the decals.I will keep that in mind when we are flying off a grass runway, might have saved us a trip into the weeds with not thinking about needing the extra room on take off..

Jimbo & Turbo glad to hear your sons are enjoying the Tamecat, it will
last them a long time and can do quite good in the aerobatics dept at
full throttle as well, a lot of the guys at the field where I fly still like to
get their hand on mine when I show up with it, does the most amazing
inverted flat spins.
First time in the 3 years I have owned my Tamecat, I landed a bit awkward
and pulled the nose gear out of it a couple weeks ago, I have since made the
upgrades that seem to have been made at the factory, plywood piece on the
floor at the nose gear and bolted the nose steering block in, it originally came
with machine screws attaching it to the bulkhead.
Hear's hoping they will continue to enjoy this rather spiffy looking trianer.

Grandma came on picked the kids up for the week, so My son couldn't fly today.. I took it out and put two more flights on it, it's a fun airplane no doubt about it.. I was very impressed with it's aerobatic capabilities, going to try some of those IFS tomorrow..
Any secrets you want to offer on the inverted flat spins, do you need to add a lot of power to keep the fuse flat and hows the recovery, anyoppositerudder needed to stop the spin?
Jimbo
