Anyone in favor of renaming this forum to ARF, RTF and Plug and Fly?
Plug and fly is a concept often used by Hobbyking for airplanes where you only have to add your transmitter and receiver (and sometimes a battery). For example, this J3 Cub is sold as Plug and Fly (PNF)

I think most plug-n-fly should be in the "beginer" forum. When I think of plug-n-fly I think of total newbies. Sorry, that's my opinion.

I think there should be several NEW forums, rather than lump everyone together. They should include :<div>
</div><div>ARF : Almost Ready to Fly</div><div>RxR : Receiver Ready</div><div>PNF : Plug N Fly</div><div>BNF : Bind N Fly</div><div>RTF : Ready To Fly</div><div>NNARF : Nowhere Near Almost Ready To Fly</div><div>TTWNF : That Thing Will Never Fly</div><div>NWALGASDTIFA : No Worries, A Little Glue And Some Duct Tape It'll Fly Again</div><div>IRWAFHTF : I'd Rather Worry About Forum Headings Than Fly</div><div>
</div><div>And, of course...</div><div>
</div><div>QYBAF : Quit Yer B***in' And Fly</div><div>

plus calling hobbyking products RTF just isnt true.
RTT (ready to trash) is far more suitable.
I just dont see the need to change anything.... APART from the fact that it will take these god awful foamies out of this forum so I dont have to read about them when I look here.

Thanks all for your serious answers
I am not sure what is wrong with foam planes. They fly as good/fast/slow as balsa or fiber glass planes as far as I am concerned. They might not look as nicely finished a non-foam planes do, but who cares.. as soon as it lifts of, you won't see any difference of the finish.

Would buying a used kit-built aircraftbe an ARF, or evenRTF?

Someone put their kit built Hog Bipe on consignment, with all the gear, just bind to your radio and go fly? That'd be a BNF I think.
Maybe they put the same airplane on sale minus all the electronics and no motor. ARF, I guess.
Of course, MY latest project WAS originally an ARF...but I acquired it all up ready to go fly, receiver and all...but then promptly UNcovered it, and am bashing some parts and rebuilding others, but it's almost ready to start putting covering on ..so...
It's an ARFBNFARUKitARC?

If the airframe (major components like fuselage, wing panels, and tail) was built and covered in a 'factory' prior to being shipped to the original retail purchaser it falls into the ARF/RTF/BNF/PNP/ABC/XYZ category.
If the original retail purchaser has to build and cover the model I consider it a kit no matter how many times it is sold after it is built.

I say we stop being so pedantic about it. To me, RTF means everything needed to fly the plane save fuel and batteries is in that box. ARF means the plane itself is in the box, major bits built and covered but needing minor assembly, but you must buy and install your own radio and power system before flying it. Kit is anything less complete than ARF.
