Default Reactor Bipe with DLE20

Ok,

this may come as a wierd question. I am hunting for a good 3D airplane for a 20cc DLE. Was wondering whether a Reactor Bipe 61 48" can take this weight. Case in point, both the AW Yak 120 (960sq.in) and 30cc Extra / 30cc Edge (990sq.in) and even the PilotRC Sbach 30cc (1003sq.in) come with lower wing area where as the Reactor Bipe has 1145 sq.in of wing area. Will it be too nose heavy? Has anyone tried this setup?

Yup, been tried, in a thread you posted in

Other than cowl/muffler fit issues, the DLE20 would be great in this plane. Plenty of wing area, and you'd end up around 8lbs. Definitely go with an IBEC/kill, such as the RCEXL from [link=http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/rcexl-opto-gas-engine-kill-switch-with-bec-6-6v.html]Valley View RC[/link] and a single battery to keep the weight down.

I have a Reactor Bipe 61 with a saito .91 4s. Not really answering your question - but you won't be sorry with the Reactor Bipe if setup properly - it flies on rails and is a big hit with the crowd every time I bring it out. Set it up properly and it is full 3D.

I am not advanced enough to fly 3D yet so I have it set on low and high rates (not 3D rates). It is setup with a total of 8 servos (2 x elev, 1 x rud, 4 x ail, 1 x thro). I was not ready for a plane like this but I got it used and ready to go for such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. It's docile enough for an experienced intermediate pilot (like me) and nimble enough to satisfy any full 3D pilot (had a couple more more experienced pilots ring it out.)

wyo69cowboy,

I will need to have two batteries, I will keep them light by using LiFe 1300mAh. How much tail weight did you add and where did you locate the tank?

Mine is on 6S electric1700W makes u smile! Sorry, can't help you on the CG setup, but I don't think there would be many tank mounting options other than stock. You might be able to put it in the middle of the wing saddle opening, but would have to make a new mounting setup. Mine weighs 7lb 8oz with a 4000mah 6S, and I don't have to move the battery to extremes on the stock mount to achive CG, so I think if you were careful with mounting your hardware, CG wouldn't be difficult to get correct with little to no added weight. I added no weight for CG purposes.
