Default ARF Stick Bashing

This past weekend I lost one of my better planes and onother member gave me a Thunder Tiger stick with need of some minor repairs to help me feel a little better so I decided to do a little Bashing while I have all the covering off, My brother has H9 ultraStick and taunts me on how it is sooo aerobatic SO I now hav 2 3/8 quaud flaps and plan to enlarge the elevator, Not much I can do to the rudder but knife edging is not something a stick does well in the first place. Is there any other Mods I can do. I know it will never out perform the ultrastick because this thing is heavy but when he says his is better I can say Mine cost me AHHH Well "Nothing" HEHE

Thanx for any help

Cut the wing in two and put in 3 inches anhedral, 1 1/2 each side. Use some aileron stock as a wedge and fiberglass cloth on the center section. Now it'll fly knife edge without rolling out. And do better outsides. I have a Joss Stick like this.

Put in a larger engine, like a .61. Even an older one with a 12-7 prop will really spice up your Stick. If you do, consider mounting the rudder servo in front of the fin and use pull-pull to help balance without adding weight. The pull-pull will help you hold the rudder over in knife edge. You also might consider a more powerful servo for the rudder.

Give it some 2 inch wide ailerons and a 3 inch wide elevator.

Good advice, Ed.
I remember reading your mods several years ago back in the day.

Well I have 2 3/8 on the ailerons and planned on the elevator but did not know how much I should go, I am putting a OS 46FX on for now but I do have the YS 63FZ from my late Ultrasport [sm=crying.gif] But for now I will use the 46 since I have 4 of them and only one in a plane, Gotta finish building things for these engines. What type of wing does the Joss Stick, semi symetrical or fully symetrical, This one has the fully symetrical so the dihedral adding makes me wonder but if the Joss Stick has full I just might have to try it.. Thanx for tips.

I had one with a 0S 91 FX that was a lot of fun The plane lasted well over 400 flights, until the engine decided to stop on a low hover
Got a H9 US 60, and planing on using the same engine.

I posted this in another forum and got no reply. I have a h9 super stick modified with larger ailerons , removed the round vertical stab and replaced it with a ultra stick type vertical stab & rudder with 3" split elevators. The 3d guys in my club can do just about anything with it. knife edge is work but it'll do it. I was wondering if you could take a stick kit or arf and, using seperate wing halves , run a wing tube through the fuse to put the wings directly in the line of thrust. you could then place a cockpit & canopy on the wing saddle area. If built light this would be a fun and inexpensive aerobatic plane. I would try but I don't feel I have the building knowledge to make sure the wing is strong enough.
