Default Plane storage question please!!!!!!!!!!need answers.

Hi there, i have a question and i will appreciatte answers:
I have a few big ARF planes wich come with separate wings, two piece wings, some are great planed, hangar 9 and others, some of these planes im not planing to use in a long time.
Well at this point,i have this wings individually covered in hefty plastic bags and sitting in racks in my garage,i live in south florida, usually hot mist of the year and humid, sometimes very hard to be more than 10 minutes inside the garage douring the summer.
Well i was planing to buy big rubbermaid or any other plastic containers with a top to seal them and just put all the wing halves there in one container, like the one used to store christmas trees.
Since the containers are not acid free,Are these containers safe to store plane parts?
Safe for covering?
Thanks.

What do other people you fly with do? surely they have the same weather/issues. How do you know the containers aren't "acid" free? Normally thats an issue for paper not sure about plastic coverings. I suspect now. Mildew and mold might be your biggest issue due to the humidity. A dessicant in with the stored wings would be pretty helpful.

Why do you need to put the wings in containers? I have planes that have been hanging in my garage for a few years with no problems.

With a hot and humid climate, the ARF covering will slowly degrade over time. I know because I stay in Mumbai (Bombay) which is a typical coastal city. Later, when you take the models out for use, the covering will slowly peel off, no matter how many times you iron it down. It will not weaken the airframe in anyway as long as it is not so moist that fungus / mould begins to grow. You can always use striping tape over the edges of the trimcote to hold it in place but there is not much you can do for the basecote. Other than that, storing outside is no problem

You can store in airtight containers. Even the double box that the ARFs came in are quite good for that. I would tape over the lid as a further insurance. Thats the way I have stored the 10 odd ARFs whos turn hasnt come yet (I used the original cardboard box though). I have I wouldnt use a use a dessicant (silicon get etc) as you dont want the wood to dry up too much

I don't know anyone with that problem here in south west florida.

I do know that with age the plastic covering gets brittle..

Go to Lowe's or Home depot and buy some foam sheets 2 foot by 4 foot. Use any foam safe glue (even Gorilla glue) to form a box. Or just use stripping tape. But be sure to seal the edges. This should protect almost anything from heat and moisture.
