I just finished my H9 Ultrastick and it is very nose heavy.
I have an OS46AX installed at the exact position suggested in the manual.
I saw a similarpost not too long ago about Uglystick, but I wanted to find out if anyone has had this problem with the Ultra,
because I know sometimesuggested CGs are wrong, and I went through it with an Escapade.

The CG listed in the manual is correct. I've had 3 Ultrasticks, the .40, .60, and 1.20, and all build nose heavy. That's why a lot of people, myself included, move the elevator and rudder servos to the tail of the plane. Its easy to do and gives you the added benefit of fairly short, stiff pushrods for these surfaces. Even so, you may also have to move the battery to the back of the wing saddle area or possibly even further back.

Thanks for the advise. It's a 40 and there's not much space except opening the bottom of the fuse tail area to install the battery.
Another option would be to drill new holes and install the engine further back since it has no cowling.
I don't understand why manufacturers do that when they know what size of engine we would use.
I even installed one of those black mufflers, they are longer but lighter than the stock muffler.

It's impossible to move the battery where it will be balanced. My only option is to add some weight on the tail. It will be 1.5 ounces, and I don't think it's a lot.

That is not to much for this plane......it will be just fine.

Instead of adding that much weight to the tail of the aircraft, think about moving the rudder to the rear. Although, I have never had the 40 size UStick, a friend at the field where I fly has that plane/motor combination. What he did to balance his was to mount his rudder servo on the top of the fuse right in front of the vertical fin. It certainly isn't the prettiest solution, but you don't buy a UStick because of it's beauty....................
