RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Took the Nemesis to our fun fly this past Saturday just to get some run time on the motor and show it off a bit... The 60 came to life pretty dang quick and ran great so far, didn't go over 3K. Well maybe just a couple spurts just to see...lol She sat there at 1440 at idle with the 22x12, I was pretty shockedI was able to get it so low. Long as she isn't to nose heavy, landing won't be an issue...

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Here are some of pics of the guts and how I set mine up... The fuel tank is my own make, just a Fiji water bottle and they work awesome, have the same set up in my bulldog with 0 problems in it's second season.. I made a tray for the tank so I could get it close to the CG (135MM). The filler is in the back as you can see in the pic, with the double wall construction, just no good place to put it up front.... The batteries are not in the final location, by all checks they will be up front with the ignition battery.. Even with the bigger motor she still needs weight up front, I will be doing that tonight and will post pics of where they end up...
Everything is a go for this weekend, maybe even sooner.........

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Thanks guys... Will do Gary, I will post it soon as I can....
Balancing..
My test while putting it together was showing that she wastail heavy, but I was just grabbing it from upright and checking...
The fact is, she is nose heavy when flipped upside down..Ishould be able to get theright CG by moving the batteries a little aft from where they are now and moving the ignition battery back as well.. The two RX Bt. I will mount rear of the rudder servo on to the sides of the fuse, just need to make trays on the side for them. Then the ignition battery will sit where the other two are now. If this doesn't do the trick then I will put the ig. bat. in the tail....

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
I have also started the construction of Nemesis.
The landing gear I have shortened 60mm.
I hope next week my DLE60, the two silencers from Pefa and Props SEP come to me so that construction can continue.
How was your maiden Jimbo?

Yesterday the DLE60 arrived.
It is already installed, but now I am still waiting for the two silencers of PEFA.

That's a sweet looking setup! Did you have those custom made with the turned down front entry tubes and bottom exit tubes? Does anyone distribute those in N America? [8D]

This is custom made for me by the company PEFA in Germany.
I do not know if PEFA is also sold in America.http://www.pefa-modelltechnik.de/

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
i had shorted the Gear 60mm and will use a 19x14, 19x13 or 18x16.
The nemesis is a speed racer and you need a high pitch and a small diameter

Agreed, but not on a brand new motor.. I'm breaking mine in with a 22x12 and have a 22x14 I will try as well.. Once she is broke in I will go down in dia. and up in pitch... I have a APC AT-6 racing prop ready to go, it's a 20x15..

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Today i had braking in my Motor. It run very well. I will change the original DLE Sparks to NGK.
My other DLE 30 Motors runs a bit better by low idle with the NGK Sparks.
With the SEP 19x14 Prop it run 8100rpm.
Soon i will test the SEP 19x13 and i think it will be run 8400-8500rpm.
Thats perfekt for high speed :-D

The Nemesis is ready for maiden flight :-)
Two 2S 1500mAh Lipo´s for the RX in the original Box in the rear.
And one 2S 2000mAh Lipo for the Ignition under the Hood.
The CG is by 135mm :-)

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
The maiden is done and she flies awesome!!!!!!!! Got a couple flights on her on Friday after setting up the airport for our event and a few more over the weekend...
She is loud on the 3" headers, but not crazy loud, everyone liked how it sounded.. It really turned heads when she would spool up in a dive for a low pass, sounded down right wicked...
Speed:
With the 22x12 up front for breaking in, I'm only turning 6400 and 14's on idle..I set the idle up into the 16's for the first few flights just to be on the safe side... She honks pretty good with a lot more R's to come once the rings are set.. I will change her over to a higher octane and redline oil, then a racing prop.. I'm pretty sure I will get her into the 9K's once Iget the right prop on her and she will be crazy quick..
burny,
A few things to watch for when you do your maiden.. She will fly slow just fine, so no need for a ton of power on takeoff.. The first flight she lifted off just fine at 1/4 throttle, the second flight I gave her a bit more then needed and I had to jump on the rudder to keep her from doing a 360 to the left..lol
Throws:
I set them to the manual with 20 degrees on low and 30 on high rates, low is all I will ever see me using.. With the huge stab she really comes around a turn quick with very little elevator, but she loves doing it.. I tried and she won't fall off, This plane just tracks awesome! Knife edge wasunreal, I puther on her side and fed in some rudder and she wentinto a 45 degree climb and it wasn't a lot of rudder.. Yours with the higher RPM's out of the gate will just keep on flying onit's side with little to no input on the rudder...Rolls were quick as well on low rates, but I can see maybe going to high rates for some super fast ones from time to time....
Cooling:
Mine is running hot and needs to be addressed. With usinga higher octanegas it will cool itdown some, but I need to baffle her..The plan isto use Carbon Fiber so itmatches the spinner, should be pretty simple and look cool as well.. I will post pics when I do mine...
Wheelpants:
They are prettycrappy and mine are already gone, tore one on the second flight and ripped the other one off before the third.. I will go with theCarbon fiber gear that the other guys used and get some carbon fiber wheelpants as well, the gearis just plane ugly with out any..
I like how you lowered your gear 60mm and think I will do the samewhen I go with asmaller prop, great idea..
Stalls:
Keep an eye on this when you take yours up, into the wind she just gets mushy and drops the nose. But we had a pretty good cross wind that I had to deal with on landingsand when I checked the stalls with the cross wind, she dropped a wing to the downwind side.. It DIDN"T tip stall or anything, just something to keep an eye on.. I only checked the stalls a couple times and will check them some more on the next flights.. For landing i just kept my speed up due to the cross wind and gave her a long low approach with no problem what so ever...
I really like this plane with the set up, she gets a lot of attention at the field and doesn't just look fast on theground, she is fast in the air and flies like a dream.. Winner winner chickendinner!!!!!!I can't wait to tweak her for speed, 3000 more R's is gonna make it a monster!

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Hey, very cool
You use a big Prop and the Motor need too much force to get to speed. This will run hot.
Its better by a new Motor when you use a smaller Prop.
Germany is currently in bad weather :-( And a lot of wind ... I must unfortunately wait for the first flight :-(

RE: **Seagull Nemesis** The need for speed build thread!!
Today, my Nemesis was in the air.
Start is a dream!
Fly as well and the landing perfectly!
After lifting the level and brought adjusting after a few clicks.
The speed is absolutely great with the engine and the SEP 19x14.
Speed in the state 8,000.
I will be testing the SEP 19x13 to get a little higher RPM.
The braking effect of the props is absolutely sufficient.
Maybe I'll even try a SEP 18x16, but this I have to order.
Unfortunately, I had not installed any ventilation openings on the rear fuselage and it has blown off by the air pressure with inside the fuselage right the first flight of the Canopy....
Unfortunately I could not find this in the high neighboring field.
Then have no bonnet nor the second and third flight :-)
Does anyone know if you can order the Canopy as a spare part?
