Default FMA Co-pilot installation

I just got my FMA and the instruction say to remove the colored stickers from the lens. Do I really remove them and if so, how is it done. I know it sounds like a dumb question, but it make nervous to pick at the small lens.

It's a little piece of some sort of tape. Just remove it.

Thanks the info Dick. I read somewhere to be careful not to scratch the lens therefore, I was a bit nervous. I got it done.

The biggest thing you need to worry about with the co-pilot is the sensitivity setting. Set everything up according to the instructions but set the sensitivity to half or below. If you have the sensitivity too high you will find it hard to control your aircraft when in the air. You can start low and increase it if you feel it is not enough, better than starting with a high setting and realizing you do not have control of the plane. I would also suggest setting it up to turn off and on with one of the channels on your radio.

Thanks for the info. I have a Hitec Laser 6 channel TX and I am going to connect the trim adjustment to the flap control knob. The only question is . . . what do you set the throw on the co-pilot to? I assume all the way clockwise or full trim mode and let the TX knob control trim. What do you think?

I am not sure about that. I set the sensitivity manually on the co-pilot. I set it up according to the recommended instructions and I found out I couldn't control the plane. It crashed into the electric lines and broke the wing. I then turned the sensitivity way down and tried it again. It worked well after that. It is a great learning device and I recommend it if you just watch the sensitivity setting.

Are these auto pilots really worth it? Reason whay I am asking, is the at I am building a fibergalss C130 with 4 engines. As part of the safety systems, I will be adding gyro to the rudder and some other equipment. Would it be worth it to put one of these on there?
If so what would it do?

OK ChrisC . . . I'll be careful with the settings. I did finish the installation today, but it's way too windy to try it out. Anyway, I have the sensitivity wired to work with the proportional knob. The only way the knob works is to have the sensitivity on the co-pilot full clockwise (on). After reading your post . . . I'll turn it down to start with.

Thanks,

Bach

c130nut . . . all I can tell you is most everyone that uses the co-pilot are very pleased. So for $100.00 it is worth a try. If you do a search "FMA Co-pilot" on RC Universe you'll get plenty to read. Good luck with your C130!
