I had the third flight with my Redwing RC 30cc MXS-R with the Pterodactyl 36cc engine also from Redwing. After about 5 minutes, the firewall tore off and the plane crashed.

Examining the wreckage showed very little glue on the firewall components, so that may have been the cause of failure.

Has anybody else experienced such a problem?

While I have the MX2, it is from Redwing RC. I have had mine for nearly 3 years. It is in great shape, and has even survived an attack from a neighbor kid with a golf club (a story for another day...).

No matter what manufacturer, no matter what plane, I ALWAYS examine EVERY glue joint I can see while assembling an ARF. Not that it helps you now, but this is a good tip to remember.

Sorry for your loss, and I hope that the plane is repairable.

I have the RedWing MXSR with a DLE 30cc. Have about 15 flights on it. No problems so far....wondering if I should be worried.

I don't always fly R/C...but when I do, I fly FASST. Fly well my friends.

I have the 30cc MXSR with a DLE 30 on mine also . I have plenty of High stress flights on mine with no problems at all , albeit I always pin and re-glue the firewall as well as regluing any accessible landing gear mounts on any ARF I put together.

Well said CK1...I have a Redwing MXSR sitting in the box in my shop,going to install an OS 33cc on it and I alway re-inforce the firewall and landing gear ,glue and epoxy is your friend...Cheers: Rich<br type="_moz" />
