Default Slipstream aeromodelslip chipmunk 30cc adding flaps

I recently purchased this model and would like to have flaps on it. Actually, I have never even seen it yet. I am currently stationed in the South Pacific and the model could not be sent here to an APO. I leave in feb. 2014 and want start on the built right away. Does anyone have any experience with fitting flaps on this plane? R any tips on the build.

thanks
jeff

I too would like to hear about flaps as I have been thinking of getting this bird after I bought and flew the RV-8 - man, that plane is a ball to fly and flaps are not needed, but a lot of fun to play with. My landings can be walking speed.

I think I will call the company tomorrow to see if I can buy an extra wing, and do my experimenting on that extra wing. I don't think it will need the flaps, but I have been flying for over 25 yrs an have never had a plane with flaps.

I have been flying the WM Chipmunk with an OS 91 Surpass for some time now, it comes with flaps, I use them 1/2 of the time that I fly it, it really doesn't need Them, it is a blast to land this airplane with or without flaps.

I'm thinking on getting one from this company to complement my other two ( Goldberg E-Chipmunk)

If I get it it will be my first gas airplane, adding flaps shouldn't be that difficult the only thing that you will be doing is to add the flap leading edge, the secondary spar to the wing and some ribs to flap and wing.

After thinking about this I called Azhar of slipstream and asked if he would be willing to sale me a second wing for the Chipmunk and he quickly replied yes. After looking at the pictures of the wing it doesn't look as though there is a lot of wing to play with. If anyone has the plane and could measure the space between the wing and the Aileron I would surely appreciate it. If there is not much to work with I might just go ahead and buy the RV8 to get my fix for flaps.
