RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
For anyone still interested in the Sukhoi,
I got the MAN in the mail last night, and the Tower Hobbies ad has the Sukhoi listed for $99. Not as good as the $79, but still better than the $129.

RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
Well guys ,
I have flown the sukhoi ,and so has my nephew that has only flown his zaggi eletric,(with me assiting him),I have flown model planes since the digital proportioal fist came out 30 some years?,I have flow all kinds of planes ,I can only say this ...IT flys as good or better than any plane I have ever flow or built, with the 46fx we only got 4 flights on it because the winter set in on us,but it has no bad habbits ,its crisp and goes where you point it and slows down and doesn't stall very easy.ours balanced right on the money,we used the new futaba 6xe computer radio with plenty of expotinal in it to slow the rolls down ,I flipped to high rates, and I set them a little more than the recomended throws, and"WOW" will it roll and snap..the nephew stayed on the low rate and flew it great even though his mouth was dry...lol..He can hardly wait to get his new one out again,I bought the same new futaba as his and bought the trainer cord to help him with his first landings..the 46fx is plenty of power for that plane,Mine is still in the box,and by the way we used the stock muffler and exit it out the bottom with the engine at 45 degree and the slime does not get on this plane at all,I have never seen a plane stay this clean ,and we kept it real rich for the first few flights,I LOVE THIS PLANE!..but check back later in the upcoming season to see and hear what the other guys think,I wish I would have bought a couple of the Giles also..

RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
Yep shes a nice flier. Mines down, my YS 63 is acting up it only runs at medium to high speed regardless of the throttle position. I gotta send it into ys for an adjustment. Truth be told that motor used to run excelent ( till I stalled on takeoff and bounced the nose on the runway) and pulled the Sukhoi beautifully. She looked and sounded great. A bunch of guys want the plane ( and the motor).
Glad to see you like it.
I bought 2 suk's and a giles when they were on sale. What a deal!
I was suprised to see this thread active again.
I'm putting the final touches on a Dymond Tiger Moth with an Enya 120. I hope everything goes well.

RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
If anyone is still looking for a great deal on Phoenix arf I just picked up a Giles and a Sukhoi for $89 a piece from Bisson Mufflers. Apparently they are liquidating all ARF stock.

I just went to that site, what a deal! Why so cheap? Otis is that your quote at the top?
I think its a little early to get a plane like that but I might not be able to pass up a deal like that.

Yeah baby!
I just ordered a Giles and a Sukhoi. $85 each and free shipping. YEAH BABY!!![8D]
I already have a Sukhoi flying with an Irvine .53 up front. Love it. Now I have spares (the Suki) and another good flying plane (the Giles) coming. All I have to do is find the cheapest place to get another Irvine engine...

RE: Shipping $$$ ???
I saw the "tbc" on the first page of the shopping cart, but when I got to the end my order said,
1 20700 Sukhoi 31 85.00
1 20800 Giles 202 85.00
Shipping 0.00
Total 170.00
So... I'm assuming... (I know dangerous) that the total is $170.00
I'll check my credit card later to confirm the final cost and let you know.

RE: RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
I can't believe that the 74" Sukhoi is on sale for $170!!!!
If I just didn't spend $450 on a Funtana and items to suit it up, I'd be purchasing SOMETHING!!
My .40 sized Phoenix Sukhoi is one of the best planes I've ever flown!

RE: RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
How is the 74 inch sukhoi I have been looking to get a plane this size but I can't find any info to look at for this plane. It sounds nice but I would like to research it first to make sure it is something that I would like. If any one has info let me know. If any one knows a web site that has any info post it here.

Looks like it will be about 15 or so bucks... we'll see... still not bad at all... I just missed the tower hobbies special they had on the Pheonix planes and didn't want to miss out on this killer deal... it seems for the most part people are happy with their planes... Where in VA are you?
I'm currious about the Phoenix Sukhoi 1.20 as well... wife is getting on me about the planes stacking up in the basement... sure wish I could put them together as fast as I buy them...

RE: RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
Can they do for a "third" plane (ie I havent flown my Tiger 2 yet, but the Tiger 2 is my first plane, but it is also a second plane for most people, if I master the Tiger II with taildragger, will I be able to fly a Phoenix Sukhoi/Giles/CAP/Extra? Thanks!)
I am leaning towards the Sukhoi, but in my opinion if I get it I'm gonna buy some better decals.
I might get the Giles. If not the Giles I will get the Cap 232. If no Cap then I'll get the Extra.
Can I fly it as my "third" plane? Can it 3D?

RE: RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
they are not for 3D. You might be able to fly it as a third plane. It flys considerably faster and is more responsive then a trainer, It lands somwhat faster as well. On the bright side they are built tough and mine had withstood many sloppy landings. Id buy one and hold it till later, when you are really ready. it really needs to be flown in to land, not a cut the throttle and glide situation( allthough I have had to deadstick mine)
Dont worry about 3D, Yes its challenging, its also a good way to keep manufacturers in buisness.

Got the e-mail response early this morning, hawkrider. They said shipping to my zipcode for the big one is $24.00. Even though they are one piece wings and don't have airfoiled tailsurfaces, that's not bad, $194 delivered.

RE: RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
I'll be paying the same for the giles and the sukhoi... I hope I can get one of the 1.20 size sukhoi later... unless they sell out of them... I asked how many they had... no reply on how many they have available... just trying to get some inside information is all... Maybe I can get the funding somehow for the 1.20 size... SAY ANYONE WANT TO BUY A TOP FLIGHT P-47 GIANT SCALE KIT?
Have a good one...

RE: Phoenix Models Giles 202 and Sukhoi ON SALE!!!!
I just ordered my sukhoi from bisson mufflers today, $85.00 + $15.00 shipping! That's pretty cheap considering it's coming from canada! I see that they are blowing the giles 202 out as well, and the 1.2 sized sukhoi is only $170.00. Now I know that you can't go wrong with that deal no matter how you slice it. I will probably use a old HB .40 pdp laying around and a pitts muffler. I'll know better when I get the kit in hand thou. I can't believe how cheap in cost these planes are, I can't buy a kit that cheap. Nor would I even try to scratch build one for that cheap. I came to the realization that I need a beater plane instead of dragging the pitts out every time, I spend too much time in setup and tear down to justify bringing it for a few quick flights. At least I can leave this in one piece and go to the field for a 1/8 to 1/4 gallon day with no time wasted and no cares of wiping out a expensive toy.
