Default Best Model for Windy Conditions ???

Looking for recommendations on a good model to buy that is least effected by windy conditions. I don't expect to fly in 30 knot crosswinds but want one I can fly rather than go home on those marginal days.
I assume the larger the better and not a flat bottom wing. I am at the beginner to intermediate stage and want to do basic sport flying and mild aerobatics. What do you recommend?

Thanks

Normally I would suggest a plane which would "slice" through the air, but these are for the more advanced flyer. Since you are a beginner to intermediate, I might suggest a stick model with a shoulder wing.

The wind blows all the time here. Your right to an extent, the bigger the better. It's actually the higher the wing loading the better. My 1/4 scale Suhkio dosn't mind the wind.
My buddy's 1/4 scale Cub is grounded at 10 knots. My suggestion for a less exspensive model? I flew a .60size Ultra Sport from Great Planes for years. With a ST.75 for power.
The wind didn't bother it. I flew at several times in a 30-40 mph wind. It was a handfull but was controlable. Later David

have a thundertiger 40 sport (low wing mag 52 4 strk) does fine in 15-20 mph winds
My vmar chipmunk did ok also with an irvine 40 diesel this one came thru wind plus
a rain squall out of nowhere . The chipmunk was lost 2 weeks later due to a "radio hit"
My electric slow stick is a blast in wind can do harrier landings in head winds however
once of the ground it blows all over the place

Depends on how much wind.

Light winds: Standard kite

Medium winds: Box kite

Strong wind: Two string fighting kite

No wind: Go fishin'

If your still looking for a high wind plane go with an over powered ultra stick . I have the 40 and the 120. have flown the 40 size in +35 mph wind , can land it backwards in head wind . with a pro 46 it can handle the wind and you don't have to wrestle with it .

You sound like you are exactly where I am in thinking. I recommend the plane I just got. A super stunts 60. Its a shoulder wing stik like what others already recommended...however its huge - 80" wing span. Big means less effected by the wind. It also means, easier to see to fly and land. It looks to be an excellent plane to build up your aerobatic skills up.

As mentioned, higher wing loading will result in more stability under windy conditions.

Isn't that the exact opposite of a glider which you fly in windy conditions?

Anyway, I don't find this to be the case....I find the total size of the plane/total weight of the plane to have a much larger effect. I understand that a "model" airplane with high wing loading supposedly "penetrates" the wind better. However, a large crosswind on a 2 lb model with the smallest of all wings (and thus a very high wing loading relative to other 2lb models) and a mega engine to make it fly gets blown all over the field. I find that a 10 lb model will hold up much better in a lot of wind than a 2 lb...no matter what the wingloading is.

...unless you talking about the "total" absolute size of the wing-loading number instead of the "relative" size of the wing loading.

ComCity, What do you think would be better to fly in the wind? A 10# 1/4 scale Extra or a 13# 1/4 scale Extra? I think the heavier would be a lot better. On final for example with a 10MPH steady wind. All at once you get a extra 10MPH gust. The 10# model will flair up more than the 13# model. I cant give you the science but I have felt it on the sticks. Later David

WM T-34. Flies well in the wind. Its good for practicing crosswind landings. Mine is powered with an OS46FX.
