Well, My lovely wife did it. It`s my b-day today, and I was presented with a nice box with a H9 P-51 inside!!
What a plane!
I just have one problem. I am having a blast with my Ultra Stick 60
with the Saito 100. My Saito 80 is in the GP Dr-1, flys great, and
my Saito 90 is in a Adrain Page Gee Bee R2, both engine and plane are brand new, and the palne is 99% done.
The only spare engine I have, is a Magnum 2-cycle .90, and has a Jett muffler. So, my thinking is to take the 100 off the US 60, put it in the Mustang, and put the Magnum 90 onto the US 60. Or, take the Saito 90 out of the Gee Bee, and put it into the Mustang.
Then the Maqnum will go into the Gee Bee......And, even though I have thought it, buying another engine will definetley be bad for my health! Just thought I would share my lovely quandry with the people that really understand, my fellow RCers! Oh, if you have any suggestions as to my engine swapping ordeal, please fire away!
Kerry
ps. off topic, but I was allowed to get insurance for me motorbike.
truly a memorable weekend!

Superdav yes mine was close to 7" but with a little sanding it was fine the wing halves still mated perfectly. I have a question for you guys on the rudder and elevator servos. Are they both supposed to be mounted with the servo arm closer to the tail. I can't tell from the pictures in the instructions but the rudder servo looks like it is suppose to mount with the arm closer to the nose. Also one of the push rods is longer so that seems to confirm this. PLease let me know.

I am hoping to fly my mustang this weekend if I can get all my servos in and hooked up. I am running a pull pull on my rudder to help with the scale tail wheel as it it pull pull as well. I am a little slower now that my Brison 5.8 tried to take my hand off, it only broke 1 finger. I will keep everyone posted on my bird and for those who want more info on the scale tail wheel location please feel free to email me.

Jerry, use the largest tubeing that you can get to stay on the nipple and the shortest length that will get it outside. I have even stuck a piece of hard tubing cut a an angle to try and give it a little negative pressure when it needs to be 6" or longer.

I have a Saito 100 that I have been flying on a 4star60 since last summer with a piece of tubing on the breather and it didn't change the way it runs. I also haven't had any of the other problems that others experience with the Saito. It vibrates but if you balance the prop real good it cuts a lot of it out.

I have a .72 that can't make up its mind if it likes the tubing installed or not. The magic number seems to be about 5". If I go any longer I have to insert a piece of hard tube in the end and cut it at an angle. Does not kill the engine, but it just seems to lose several hundered rpm's. First indication that the tube is too long (restricitve) is the oil slobber out the tube goes away.

The new 100 is installed and had 2 tanks of fuel run through it. Checked and adjusted all control throws. Aprroximately 12 hours from now it will airborne. What's that in my stomach. Yikes it feels like butterflies!
About the crank vent. I ran a short piece of tubing to the firewall where it attaches to a copper line that exits through the bottom. I hope this is OK.
How about the pressure line. Do I need to have it hooked to the muffler? When I was ground testing the motor I pulled it off and put it back on and I didn't notice any difference.

Bent gear,
I have a Saito .72 also with a vent tube on it on a GP Cap 232 and its about 4-5 inches and I don't have any problems with it. I wonder if I'll have problems on my .91 that I'm putting on my P-51?

From: Pine Bluff, AR,
I had my decal guy cut my wife's name to put on it and used my AMA number on the tail. Red spinner and 3-blade prop will be in this week.
Finally got to fly the P51 today. Acually I flew it 4 times.
About all you can say is "Oh my God!" The thing lept off the ground and after a few clicks of trim I was comfortable enough with it to start manuevers. I got up high and cut the throttle to 2 clicks from idle and it wouldn't stall. It just kept flying level only slower with no elevator input.
It will land at a slow walk and it's hard to pin the tail with the elevator because it will try to take off again.
This is one SWEET flying warbird with none of the bad flying habits usually associated with warbirds.
( That a five smile rating )
