FWIW-- Brian Copfer just won the IMAC Unlimited Class Championship in Las Vegas - flying one of these powered by a new ZDZNG 100 twin - On JMB mufflers -not tuned cans -and a 26x10 Mejzlic prop .
weight was over 29 lbs empty !
I know - I put it all together
Brian is a excellent flyer -and he practices each week - a lot of fuel got burned-- Redline Racing two stroke at 32 -1 mix -I insisted on that!
His setup was not the typical 150 class model --The ONLY mods to the model were some lightening I did to the tail group - so that there would be no ballast used with the light engine. I just whittled away some surface sheeting and recovered the rudder and horizontal pieces -
This engine was the first production ZDZNG into the USA- No mods or fixes ever needed.
Brian finished 3rd overall in class at this contest.
He also got "10's on lall flights for quiet performance
No huge props needed to control noise - the engine was simply run slowly for horizontal flight then power added as needed for uplines.
So if you think it takes a megabucks plane and engine to win in the high end competition -- think again.
