The manual states that the CG should be 4 3/4 inches from the leading edge of the wing. Is this from the leading edge at the fuse or out on the wingtip? Due to the shape of the leading edge there would be quite a difference.

Default CG

I went at the fuse side. It looks to be about 25% (I went just a tad further, about 27%) on the overall chord. If you go to where the L.E. stops the major taper, it looks like it would be at about 35% of the chord, too far back for a war bird such as this.

I agree though, they should be a little more clear on this, someone will crash this one if they don't pay attention.

Default Thanks!

This was my last step. I'll probably fly her tomorrow. I was leaning towards the fuse side.

I ended up with a APC 14X8 for the prop on the Saito 100 with a black C&B spinner. The owner of the LHS ordered black and red spiners but the red spinners didn't ship until today and I wanted to fly it this weekend. He also ordered a 13x6 3 blade prop. He said when the prop and red spinner come in he'll cut out the spinner and get it all ready to go. God bless the LHS.

Measuring the cg at the fuse it is nose heavy which suprises me because the same plane with the same motor needed 2 oz. of nose weight in another thread. I may need to check it closer. Could be the APC prop. They're pretty heavy.

I hope the Saito starts easily as the LHS said NOT to use a starter with the C&B spinner. They're really soft. I've never flip started a 4 stroke.

Thanks agian for the info.

Default Balance

I'm using the Saito 100 and with the battery (JR 1100mah 4.8 V) just behind the wing bolts it came out just a touch tail heavy (27%). I'm using a DB P-51 aluminum spinner and an APC 14-8. If you used metal gear servos (heavier) in the tail it could be the difference.

Default spinner....CG

I'm glad someone brought up the point of the CG - I used the wing and with the battery under the landing gear area, balances perfectly (W/Saito 100), but was using the wing's leading edge.

Think I'll move it behind the receiver.

Any trouble with the canopy? That's next on the agenda...

Default canopy

My canopy went on pretty nice. The fit was very good although the "aluminum" framework is a little wide for the size of the canopy. It still came out looking pretty good. I used Pacer "Formula 560" glue and let it dry overnight. It seems to have a good hold.
