Default Master Airscrew or APC?

Master Airscrew or APC?

APC is more expensive.

I currently have an APC prop (i'm a newbie; never used)

Don't know which one is better. I hope this is not a Ford vs Chevy or Futaba vs JR vs Airtronics vs Hitec or O.S. vs Magnum vs TT question.

I wont' bore you with prop theory but I get better speed and performance with an APC. I usually use Master Airscrew or wooden ones on the first few flights of a new plane to see how it handles before i install and expensive prop

I prefer APC`s, they perform much better. Anyways, do not forget to dull the edges with sandpaper on either, they cut like knives when new.

Yub, its like comparing apples and oranges. MA and APC both make several different styles and either one OR another brand may be best for YOUR type flying and the plane/engine you have it mounted on at any given moment.

MAS for student pilots...APC for intermediate to advanced pilots.

The black Master Airscrew is better for anyone that expects to have the prop come in contact with the ground, as in "not so great" landings. They will take quite a bit more abuse without breaking than an APC. As stated by the others, an APC will usually render better performance.

I have owned and used both. The APC is far superior to the MAS prop both in quality and performance.

I have owned both as well and in my opinion and as stated above and the black MA is good if you plan on a few rough landings & thats about it. From what I've noticed you will get a few more RPM's from the black MA but no bite in the air and will also get alot of flex at the tips along with louder engine noise. With the same size APC I have noticed the engine load to be a little heaver, the pulling power a little better and less engine noise.
This is just my opinion and as you get time & experience under your belt you will come to have your own preference & opinions for props.

Will make little difference in how well you fly your airplane. The proper diameter and pitch for the engine in question and the intended aplication , ie. high wing scale vs low wing aerobatics are more pertinent than weather its an APC or Masterairscrew. I prefere and have had good results with Masterairscrew props on 4 cycle engines in scale aplications for the last 12 years. On the otherhand APC props on 2 cycles never failed me either.

Let's face it . Have you measured that Apc? Now I fly both and others and have been flying a long time. I've heard this and heard this. Yes You get more Rpm on your APC but do you readly think that last 1/4 to 3/8's of an inch moves much air. Try different props they have different useages. I do like the more bite APC's have close to the hub. Some people just have to follow without thinking for themselves.[:@]

You get more rpm out of an APC because its tips do little work and thus exert very little load on the engine. The tips are there just for noise reduction. In effect, a 15" APC is like a 14" MA with square tips. I like MA nylon Scimitar prop over APC. However, I prefer Bolly pre-balanced carbon fiber props over both MA and APC.

The same poster dug up the same thread over at RCGroups. That thread was 7 years old.
