hi all my wife got me the t-34 mentor
and I would like to put in some retracts. how good are the hanger 9 retracts or is there some that are better fit for this plane. also what are the advantages of air retracts over the hanger 9 retracts.

I used the factory gear for my Mentor and they fit and work perfectly.
Being the rebuilder of everything I drilled out the trunnions and used next larger size wire.
Sure did not need it./ Get em they fit very well and look good also and cheap.
Greg.
PS I even added gear doors to mine.

Well I got the h9 retracts for my t-34 but the nose gear broke so I picked up a set of hobbico retracts the problem is that the stearing arm is on the wrong side of the retract so that when you move the rudder right the nose wheel goes left. I was thinking about putting control rod for the nose wheel on the same side of the servo arm as the rudder control rod. I have never seen this done before and would like to know if it can be or if some one has better fix please let me know and if you have pics that would be great

The plastic part on the in side of the retract that screws to the metal rod that makes it retract broke. this happened on take off last week and luckliy that is the only thing that broke. I fly off a grass runway and it very smooth so your guess is as good as mine as to why it broke.
