Wow... what the heck is up with that?? [
]
Tried the Dave Patrick website, but it is not responding now.
Also, I can't find any mention of this at Cermark. But there is a picture of the model next to the
Cermark Logo at the top of the page.
I know Dave Patrick and Cermark have ties, since the larger Pitts ARF sold by Cermark is a Dave Patrick design.
Having trouble are they???

Okay... Dave Patrick website is back up.
That's an odd arrangement they have going there.
The statement sounds like they are not happy with their current vendor and found someone else to sell these models
being bujilt by the old vendor... at least that is the jist that I get from it.
And, as we know, customer service at Cermark has been less than stellar from reports that I've seen.
Very odd...

YA I WONDER IF THE PLANE WAS NOT UP TO DAVES STANDARDS SO HE LET THEM GO TO
CERMARK TO SELL.
SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT HERE I JUST HOPE IT DOES NOT CRASH HIS REP ON DESIGNING
GOOD AIRCRAFT.
HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS ALOT TO BE DESIRED BUT HIS PLANES SURE FLY RIGHT.
I HAVE TWO 120 ULTIMATES AND MUST SAY THEY ARE AWESOME BUILT AIRCRAFT.
ONE NEEDED NO TRIM ADJUSTMENTS AND THE OTHER ONLY TWO CLICKS OF ELEVATOR.
PRETTY DARN GOOD.

Yep... I've heard very good things about his planes as well. This situation is just has a very odd smell to it.
It certainly would get the rumor mill going, wouldn't it??? And the explaination on the web site leaves a
lot to be self contructed in our heads.

Maybe I'll finally get the Ultimate 40 that I ordered in July 2002. By the way, Cermark customer service is excellent. I received a Cermark Pitts for Christmas that was damaged. I called them and they immediately shipped me a new one with a return shipping label for the damaged one. The new one is perfect. The funny thing is that I wound up getting the Pitts partly because I figured that I would never see the Ultimate 40. Go figure.

IT DOES LEAVE ALOT FOR THE RUMOR MILL.
IF THE ORDER IS THRU DAVE PATRICK YOU WILL NOT BE GETTING IT ANY TIME SOON.
THE PLANE IS ONLY THROUGH CERMARK AND PATRICK WILL NOT PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THOSE AIRCRAFT.
HE PROBABLY THINKS IT IS NO ONE ELSES BUSINESS,BUT THE R/C PUBLIC IS HIS BUSINESS
THEY WILL MAKE OR BREAK HIM.
IT WOULD BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF DAVE PATRICK MODELS TO GIVE ALITTLE MORE INFO.

I would think they've had some kind of relation in the past seeing as the Cermark Pitts is a DP creation. It doesn't sound that weird to me. Espescially if DP is getting swamped by himself

In a post on RCU Dave Patrick's rep stated that the vendor in China stole the Ultimate 40 design and sold it to another company. I dont know what company that was, she did state that Dave was working out a deal and in a year or so would be producing the Ultimate 40 again. Who knows, maybe Cermark is part of the problem or solution. My guess would be problem if Dave isnt going to support the product.

HEY THROTTLE STICK, WHEN YOU USE ALL CAPS ON THE INTERNET, IT MEANS YOUR YELLING!!!
Please stop using all capital letters and write like the rest of us please.
Yelling is considered rude and thoughtless.
Thank you for your consideration,

What a messed up situation THIS is.
If it is in fact a stolen design issue, why don't they just state that? Too much mixed info and rumors flying.

My name is Steven Chao, employee with Cermark. There has much rumor regarding Cermark's relationship with Dave Patrick. Unfortunately, there is not much to tell. Dave and us are still on very good term.
There were issues with the Ultimate 40 vendor. The solution was reached using Cermark (3rd party) as the point of disbursement. Cermark has taken possesion of the stock in question. Dave does not provide support because Dave was not compensated to do so. It is only fair that one should be rewarded/treated fairly. Since there are unanswered ethic questions, our (Cermark's) goal is to eliminate remaing Ultimate-40 stock, and make certain that both parties move on.
I hope this clarify any misunderstanding regarding Dave (DPM) customer service issue regarding this aircraft. Dave has always done his best to help everyone. I don't believe that will change any time soon.
Peace,
Steven Chao

I just have 1 thing to add to this thread. The DPM Ultimate 40 is 1 teriffic flying airplane.
I have never flown an airplane that is so predictable and stable, yet so manueverable when you go to high rates. To say landings are a breeze, even in a cross wind would be an understatement. I simply love it. Although I have'nt dead sticked it yet. The Saito 72 has been flawless thus far.
