Real Katana Info ???
Does anyone know of any info on the real Katana Aero Bat or if there is a real one. Seems I read some where it was a French or Italian plan but I really dont have a clue.
I've did a search on the web & this is the only thing I came up with & its a far cry from the models were flying!!

RE: Real Katana Info ???
The Katana is a real aerobatic plane, its made by an italian company called Terzi and its official designation is a Terzi T30 Katana. There are very few pictures I have been able to find in the internet. I have only been able to find three (two posted). The third is a picture of a white full scale Katana at an air show somewhere in europe I think but I couln't find it right now.

I am fan of the Katana too, and the RC airplane that´s I am flying now is the Funtana S 90(based on the Katana´s design).
The site of the constructor is: "http://www.pietroterzi.com/"
Good lucky

RE: Real Katana Info ???
I found a couple of pics that shows the real Kat in the process of doing a ground run on a Lycoming IO 720 8 cylinder. (Little over 400 HP!!)
With it being kinda "In The Bones" it looks like something out of a Terminator movie!!

Very interesting. You would think with that kind of power it would be a front runner in aerobatic competition but the only place you hear about it is once in a while and in Europe.

I agree but give it time & maybe we will see more of them. I would like to find out just who is flying one & maybe catch a video of one in action.

Being such a popular r/c model I'm thinking they(or somebody even on this side) may produce more full size types just so we can copy em and make them even more popular...

RE: Real Katana Info ???
Hello; Our flying field is near where a local flying school uses Katanas as training planes. They have four of them and in the summer, it isn't unusual to see two of them in the sky. This is the Katana made in London Ont. with the "T" tail, like the white one in the first post. I acquired a kit of one of those Katana's, I haven't started it yet, but it looks great on the box. I also have a Funtana 90, which is nothing like the Katana we are talking about.
