Default Lanier Stinger .60 ARF

I bought a Stinger ARF .60 size.
It has a few strange problems.
Comments on the following are very welcome.

1) the Landing gear are swept back which is very strange considering I have never seen another like it (with the gear swept back), I'd like to turn them around but then the wheel pants then would be at a bad angle; touching the ground.

2) Next the directions call for putting the elevator servo against the fuse wall and the rudder servo in the middle, it seems to me it should be just the opposite. I think this because The elevator push rod should be pushed straight back for the two exiting rods to the elevator while the rudder rod is on one side.

3) Should I paint or glass the out-side of the fire-wall for the purpose of fuel proofing? I'm using a four stroke YS.

Lets start with the landing gear. It does serve a purpose being positioned the way it is. It is form and function of the airframe. It handles great with the configuration as per spec. I would install it as perscribed. Secondly, if i can recall the pushrods are fairly close together after the final assembly. There is very little room for any change unless you decide to mount the servos in the tail section which is a whole new area of discussion. You will have to add weight in the tail later fo CG purposes. Last, I would use epoxy to cover the firewall for fuel protection. That should be done regardless in almost all cases where it is not done.

Steve, My Stinger is the 120 size so I might be off a little on the 60 size.

First, the landing gear are made to be swept back, install them that way.

Second, I put two servos on mine for split elevators. I also mounted them in the rear of the fuselage with short stiff pushrods. If you don't have the room to do that then the elevator servo should be mounted in the center so both halves of the elevator get the same push or pull. The rudder servo doesn't matter too much as long as you can get it relatively straight..

My rudder servo is mounted at the rear of the radio compartment with a pull pull setup with the wires crossed for straight line pull on the rudder.

Third, By all means glass and epoxy the firewall. It's for strength and fuel proofing.

Good luck with yours, mine flies like a dream. Got an MVVS 160 gas engine on it and it just purrs. Won't do unlimited vertical but I like the way it flies.
