Hi Guys,
I've got yet another GP Spacewalker question
.
What is the right way to install the large control horns for the Spacewalker ailerons? The ailerons have a wooden control horn mount on one side (the bottom), but just monokote on the other (top). I've got these DuBro control horns:

It seems to me that tightening the bolst will just pull through the monokote.
How did you other Spacewalker owners get around this? Any pictures that will help?
Thanks,
Carl

Use wood screws into holes in to the plywood horn plate on the underside of the aileron.
Drill the holes 1/16", thread in the screws, take them out and harden the new threads with thin CA. Allow it to cure. Put the screws back.
BTW, why are you using the large horns in the first place? These are really meant for planes a lot bigger than this one.
I thought the Spacewalker came with horns. They're OK to use.

Thanks,
The Spacewalker comes with control horns for the rudder/elevator but not the ailerons. The manual recommends the large control horns, as does the accessories link on TowerHobbies.com The other GP ARFs I've assembled came with good control horns that installed easily ... that's why I'm confused

cfossa,
Those large horns aren't needed. Here is what I used. I cut them down to 3 holes. Do as Pettit has suggested with wood screws and CA.

Stick Jammer,
Thanks! Are those the DuBro super strength t-style? If so, the ones I have are only 1/16" longer. I'm sure I can trim them down too.
The wood screws sound like what I'm looking for. That way there are no holes coming out the top of the ailerons.
How do you like your SpaceWalker?

Yeah, they're Dubro. Just me, but I would go with a pair of the white nylon horns. Those black ones are just way too beefy for this plane. The GP Spacewalker is a sweet bird. Gets lots of looks at the field and is a pleasure to fly, you'll like it.
