They were suppose to be shipped last week,according to some sources of information...Haven't seen any postings in regards to modelers rec'd their kit...............Had one ordered,but cancelled it out...this the reason why..they were promised in April,in May,and now June....don't like outfits who do this.....Am very leary of it.....Just my 2 cents worth

I recieved mine today, it looks great! It appears to be covered in Ultracote. The glass work is very good. The cowling looks to be painted in the mold. The wheel pants were not painted in the mold but they are painted. The construction of the airframe and flying surfaces is top notch. All the wood is laser cut and it looks like it is glued with ca and epoxy. There are no plastic parts on the airframe, wing farings and rudder fillets are balsa. The covering job is incredible, I wish I chould cover this well. The "N" number and the "7" on the fuse are already applied. All of the surfaces are prehinged with ca type hinges but are not glued yet. The landing gear is 1/4" wire with a 5/32" wire rear brace. The wheels have metal hubs and foam type tires. All of the control horn surfaces on the rudder elevator ect have been pre-drilled. I haven't opened the hardware package yet but it looks to be quite complete, the metal clevises are already threaded on to the pushrods! The cowl mounting blocks are already glued on. The cockpit is painted and combing is gluded in place. The wings are held together with a wing tube and secured to the fuse with nylon bolts at the TE and a ply tab off of the W1 rib at the LE. The dummy radial is pre-painted.
If you couldn't tell I REALLY like this airplane. I will be powering it with a Saito 1.80.

I also picked mine up today and Brian pretty much said it all. I agree this is a real quality kit. I also with be powering mine with a Saito 1.80.
Brian what kind of servos are you going to use in your Gee Bee. I am thinking about using JR 8411sa, do you think that would be overkill for this kit?

My GeeBee "Y" is on the way. I have the tracking number and it is almost here. I saw the prototype at the NW Hobby Expo in Puyallup, Washington. Some have remarked it was not as nice as they would have liked. I thought it was good quality and understanding it was a prototype. They usually go through a lot of growing pains on a new project like this. They wanted to be sure it was right. The reason for the delay was the modifications and changes. I was able to talk with Johnson Ting (Mr. Pacaeromodel) extensively at the hobby show throughout the weekend. He told me about the research and development of this model. I owned one of their SU-26 Sukhoi .40 size when they first came out about 10 years ago and I liked the quality of it. I knew I would get an excellent product, so I did not hesitate to order one. It sounds like Brian really likes his and I can hardly wait to see mine tomorrow. I will power mine with a 3W-24. That should be a perfect combination. I'm sure it will be a big hit at any flying field.

:sunsmiley MY GEE BEE is on the way!!! How do the the wheel pants look , will they hold up? I plan on a homelite 33cc motor. I hate waiting for the UPS truck. Every time I hear a truck, I listen to see if it stops outside the house... A 8411 is overkill but if you have them use them. The new JR 811 would be a great servo to use on this airplane.
On the front of the box it read's " Like the original, our Gee Bee Y was not designed for very high speed or 3D aerobatic". I think it is a very well designed and built airframe, but if you put a G-62 on front of it , the wing center section would be your weak point. The manual shows the installation of a G-23, so any of the lower horsepower gas burners would be a good choice. The manual mentions something about gluing the wings together if using a larger motor. The only weak point in this kit is the manual. If you have built any ARF before you shouldn't have a problem, but if you have to follow the manual well.........It needs improvment.
The wheel pants should hold up like any other ARF. I build and fly UAV's for a living and do a lot of composite work. If I were to lay up the pants I would use Kevlar around the wheel openings and the attachment points. A set of Robart struts would be nice also (hint hint).
I should have it assembled this weekend, there is very little to do. The fuel tank already is plumbed and installed with fuel lines attached!

When I went home for lunch today, it was there. Of course, I had to take a peek at it. It looks great and I will look at it more extensively when I get home. The manual is a little shy of information, but most of the ARF manuals leave a lot to be desired.

By the way, I have seen your planes on videos and in magazines. Nice work! I have a video from the Joe Nall in 1992 called "Dog Devil Pilots" and you are in it. It is the best RC video I have ever seen.

Received the Gee Bee Tuesday, ordered it in Feb.. The kit was worth the wait. It did suffer some shipping damage, the cowl was cracked. New one is on it's way. The kit is excellent quality. Will start assembly this weekend, going to use Moki 1.8. I will use the Sullivan 1/4 scale control horns, change the tail wheel, and increase the fuel tank size to compensate for the thirsty Moki.
Reviewed the manual, not sure what the complaint is, this bird is 95% completed. It can be assembled without a book if it wasn't for the control throw specs. and the CG number. Far less pieces then the Goldberg Ultimate or the Hangar P-51 ARF.
I am very impressed with the workmanship and final appearance. Maybe the new generation of ARFs are starting to arrive.
Will move any assembly posts to the other thread.

The fuel tank is plummed and installed with the fuel lines hanging out the front of the firewall. It looks nice and it is setup for glow. The manual shows how to install the Saito 180 or the G-23 and discusses the fact of having to change the fuel tank to accomodate gas.
I am in agreement...it was worth the wait. I can't wait to get started.

OK guy's my mistake on the manual. I looked at it briefly at work and the steps to follow made no sence. When I looked at it at home I relized my manual was missing a page! There is no page 5 & 6. I agree you really don't need a manual for this one.
