Cut the tail off, rather cut the fuse off between the wing saddle and the tail group.
Mount the tail group to a wall in your garage with the tail group 'burying' itself into the wall.
It is a place of honor, like a deer head on the wall.
Your first kill.
CONGRATS!

...a re-built plane is definately not a source of embarassment, but rather a source of pride...

You can be proud if it's done well and looks pretty, for sure.
I have seen several ARF repairs that are not, and look it.
Those were the ones who were embarrased.
You need 3 colors of covering that I can see in the photo to match the old stuff.
Then there are the hardwear costs.
I would just buy a replacement fuse and call it good.
OR
Cut the tail and mount it.
There is pride in the "first kill", I promise.

Cut the tail and mount it.....hey that's a good idea, or how about cutting the tail, and burying it part way a la the "cadillac ranch"?

And the poor Avi was pushed aside...to the corner where it would collect dust. Along with so many like it, broken, used. The only thing each of them ever wanted was a chance. A chance to go to the field each week and make people smile.
FIX the Avistar! You'll feel better when you do.[sm=biggrin.gif]

I did the same thing, only worse. I went to the hobby store and bought the $99 ARF so I can get back in the air. Later on, I decided to rebuild the original Avistar more for a learning experience. Guess what, it flies great and now I use it at the club as a trainer.
